• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I, along with another member of spyderlovers, have experienced a bit of "play" with the Corbin armrests. Mine apparently isn't as bad as his. In fact my wife has said that she feels quite secure as it is. However, others may be experiencing the same thing.

I would suggest that perhaps some kind of large washer be used where the screws are used to attached them to the speaker box. I think this would give some added strengthening and help.

That's good information to know, Chris. I've ordered the armrests from Corbin, and when I put them on, I check for play to see if they need reinforcing before I button it all up. Corbin told me about 3 weeks to ship them... is that normal? Sounds like they don't stock them. I'm also going to upgrade the rear speakers to Polk Audio.

Thanks for the heads-up Chris.I ordered mine last week and will get them in about 3 weeks too.Yesterday we had 65K(almost 40MPH) crosswind and my wife was not as comfy as I would have liked.I'm sure that they will make a difference.It was an UGLY day to be on the high-way on the RT.
 
Guys there's another possible issue when they install the Corbin seat. Ever since I had my seat installed, I'm experiencing the VSS/Nanny cutting in. Up until my seat installation, I had NEVER experienced the nanny. Someone suggest in another thread that I started reference this issue that it could be that Corbin, while installing the seat, messed up the sensor located back in the rear.

I'm just throwing this out as a heads up as well.

Corbin Seats

I'm thinking of ordering the corbin seat for my RT S. Are they really more comfortable????
 
I'm the "other" member with the loose armrest problem. Mine move vertically about 2" when any pressure is put on them, like my wife getting on the bike. This, and the fit and finish is not what I've come to expect from Corbin. While the armrests themselves are fine, when you look at them from the rear there are large gaps between the bike and the armrests that weren't there before. Mine were installed by Corbin.

For those planning to install them, I would suggest if at all possible you get a Corbin rep to do it. It is a very complicated process (the tech who did mine said that on a scale of 1 - 10, easy to hard, this job was a 9, and he'd done Mouthpiece's before mine, so he knew what he was doing). It is hard enough that there is only 1 tech in Ormand Beach that has done them, and he told me he wasn't going to do any more.

On the seat. I have not had any problems since my seat was installed; and YES it is comfortable. Without a doubt the most comfortable seat I've ever had on a bike. We use Alaska Leather sheep skins on top of the seats and have found this to be an almost prefect combination.

Anyone have any installation instructions? Mine came with none. Thinking of taking them to the dealer and letting them put them on while it's sitting there waiting for the clutch and various other problems to be fixed.
 
Jay I have them. I asked the rep at corbin if I could have them, and he gave them to me. I'd be more than happy to make copies and send if you want to send a "private message" for an address. I guess the other way would be for me to scan, save to a file and send via internet.

That might not be a bad idea you have about letting your dealer install. Mike is right in the previous "reply" when he says that the corbin tech was quite frustrated (for lack of a better term) when installing. The other reason I would probably use the dealership has to do with the "nanny" sensor that is back in that area. I've experienced some problems with my VSS/Nanny cutting in when I had never experienced this before.

So I'm gathering by what's been said here that I should get the armrests up in Lake George next June and have them do the work, but order the seat A.S.A.P.... :roflblack:
 
Bob all I can say is that I'm completely happy with my seat AND armrests. Although there does seem to be a little "play" in my armrests, (unlike Mike who I think is experiencing something more) I am very satisfied with them. With that said they were installed by Corbin techs.

As for the seat, WE just love it. I know others on this forum have talked about the Russell seat. Each to their own. I personally like this Corbin seat I had installed by Corbin.

Where does the "play" come from when installing these? Is it in the armrest itself or is it because it gets bolted to a non-solid surface (such as plastic vs. metal)?

Mike, I would go back and have them make sure they put everything back together right. I wouldn't accept something that moves that much. I'm going to attempt to install these myself. If they have that much play, they will go back to Corbin.

I think, but don't hold me to this, that it comes from the fact that it's bolted to a "fairly" flexible plastic surface. That's why I suggested using some large washers.

Thanks, Chris... it does help to know that I am armed with all the information available out there as far as installation. I'm not getting a warm & fuzzy feeling about these so far. Hopefully, your washer idea will help to make these a little more secure. I sent Sergio an email asking him about these too. We'll see what he tells us. I'm guessing he probably has heard about them already.
