• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Coocase installation on a BRP luggage rack?

I may be purchasing a Coocase S-48 Astra with the alarm, remote etc... I say MAY because I've been reading about how you adventurous souls have had mixed blessings about drilling into the aluminum rack. I've exchanged PM's with a couple of you (Mike, Scotty, thanks!), and seen the installation of the GIVI monokey on the other forum. I believe the luggage rack may need reinforcing, but how, and how much?

So far, I've determined to use the GIVI Monoblock with the Coocase, but the jury is still out.

SO, esteemed members of the Spyderlovers Forum, what are the issues at hand and what experiences to you have. Give me a verdict.

I meet the seller at 1000 tomorrow (10/8). Let me have it.
Thanks!

There are some times that you just have to jump off the dock, and learn to swim on your way to shore. I think this is one of those times. The reinforcement method will depend a lot on your mounting method and position. The use of metal straps, a full plate cut to fit inside the luggage rack (cover), or large fender washers on each bolt would all work. The more reinforcement the stronger the assembly, but the luggage rack (cover) attachment to the sport rack tailpiece is still the weak point. It is prone to breakage, too. It can be repaired, but that part is not available separately for replacement if it fails. If either inventing the reinforcement as you go along, or repairing the luggage rack (cover) in case of later failure would be beyond your capabilities, you may need to pass on this deal. If you think you can work out a solution when you get the parts in hand, or you have a handy friend that can help, I'd snap up the bargain.

Coocase S-48

Well, I purchased the Coocase. After seeing that the rack was similar to the GIVI rack that Widowmaker installed on his RS, I was sold. It's very good looking and I think I'll go outside and see if it works...

Then, I'll see about measuring and cutting... If you hear a loud noise, it's me :gaah:
