• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Communication System on 2011 RT Limited

Wow, this is a complicated thread.

This may have been answered already, but I need to know.

Can you listen to the 2011 RT-S FM radio using the Chatterbox XBI2-H?

The for whatever it's worth catagory...

My wife and I have two, 2010 RT's. I did the both installs of the CB, Garmin Zumo 660, Intercom and satellite radios. They work flawlessly... with one excetion. The transmitter on both machines sticks (tx).. for a few seconds after releasing the PTT button... This problem is the subject of a thread I started nearly a year ago. "CB Problems".

We don't have a lot of range on the CB, about a mile +/-. That's totally adequate in my opinion, at least for us. If we get totally seperated or lost then Cell phones solve the problem.

The GPS can be heard in our helmet headphones and overrides all other audio inputs. The intercom works great, as does the AM/FM radios, Satellite radio and iPod. I don't think I could ask for better audio/comm system on a motorcycle... With the one exception mentioned above.. the PTT (tx) delay.. Supposedly, BRP is working on this one.

The system is all hard wired, no noise, no feedback, no humming.. It works...Len

I think you'll find in general, people are more likely to post negative comments. This forum is more positive than most, but there is still that posting bias.

People who have a bad experience with stuff they've paid good money for come to specialist forums like this one for sympathy, support and/or answers. Occasionally a firestorm of negative comments will cause a manufacturer to make necessary changes to its product. BRP may well be in the process of designing a workaround to fix its poorly designed intercom system because of the upswell of dissatisfaction expressed on this forum. Sure, I'm guessing, but can they so easily ignore all the complaints? I think not.

There is plenty of praise lavished on both the RS and RT versions of the Spyder on SpyderLovers.com but a forum with only positive things to say would be an utterly futile exercise and a complete waste of everybody's time. :doorag:

For Marker ...

Hi Marker ...

To your question on the thread above. I do not use the CB unit and the Chatterbox together. I use them separately, depending on the communications preference of the group I'm ryding with. If with my meetup.com crew, we go FRS/Chatterbox. If I'm ryding with my Blue Knights chapter, it's CB.

Best,

~ Surfer
