What brand of soft bags do you have?
I have considered this approach, but I wouild prefer a coated nylon cover to a canvas one. Right now we use two black plastic trash bags, one put on from the rear, then another over the front of the opened seat. Ugly, but effective. We use the same thing for the RT seat. If we get a chance to try one out, we are going to test a large backpack cover. They have the right shape, if we can find one that fits, the next time we are at REI. BRP (or an aftermarket manufacturer) would do well to offer seat raincovers for the BRP seats. I have been whining about this for two years. Just like home...nobody ever listens to me. :roflblack:I had the same problem, a local upholsterer made me a rain cover for seat 2 draw strings under seat hold fitted cover made of boat cover canvas folds up nice and keep it in bottom of trunk. It even works when on trips to keep dew off when parked at motel overnight

Actually as far as a cover goes..i was thinking of a Nelson Rigg half cover..think I saw one on new enough for bout 45 bucks. But what I wanted was to "treat" the seat somehow..the moisture getting to the stitching..thru rain..washing and whatnot isnt good for it and it makes an interesting wet inpression on me backside:doorag:
Put a BRP comfort seat on about a month ago:2thumbs:..luv the seat! Think the wife loves it even more. Any ideas on waterproofing the seat? Maybe something that wont make it slick? Water seams to soak in the stitching.
Oh yeah and some pics:doorag:
How about using seam sealer like is used on tents? Might work! The seat material is not -- at least I don't think it is -- leather. If I am right and it is vinyl then the seam sealer should work fine -- as the rest of the material is waterproof by it's nature.
But be careful seam sealer might make it slippery? I would test it first.
How about trying Chapstick on the stitching? Wiping the excess off.
Thanks for the ideas! I may just leave it alone..and just get a cover when its left outside..and try not to get the seat too wet when I wash it. My wife says I wash it too much anyway:doorag:
Do you think if I Chapstick the whole seat? It will keep my butt from getting chapped on very long rides.:roflblack::roflblack:
That is the way I do it. I try not get the seat wet when I wash my Spyder, and have the NR Half Cover for when it is parked out in the weather. When it comes to riding in the rain, I figure it doesn't matter at that point.
:agree: Unless you live in a very wet area. I had a Diamond seat on my GW trike with the 'velour' covering and had no problems at all. Of course things dry out very quickly out here in the West.
