• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cold weather blues

Went out it garage to warm up spyder for a blustery ride to work everything had frost on it started right up but it was so cold that gauges were acting up and engine light was on and a check dps code came up thought it better to leave it home maybe retry later it's supposed to hit 20 degrees today

??? Really... is there a LOW/COLD operating temperature the Spyder should not be operated in??? Does the manual state that or something?

That is not good. If I get a Spyder I plan to ride into the chilly fall and winter months if the roads are clear with fair weather.

I'd like to be able to ride the Spyder in -5C (23F).

So, would it run (would the gauges clear) after the machine warmed up?

cheers.

update

went back out restarted spyder and all was well (if you consider a wind chill factor of about -15 well) started dees and same thing happened i let it sit restarted and it was fine too so she trudged out in the cold with me .... she is so hardcore....:shemademe_smilie:

I go out every morning 630am 2 mile run for coffee, this morning 14f.
Starts right up, drive off[slow] no warm up. Could be a moisture problem?
Had that happen on my snowmobile a few times.

I would say yes to either but both spyders did exactly the same thing o well not doing it now on either so ride on

Your DPS is protected from extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.

A magnetic heater attached to your oil tank would also be a good investment.

You would think the Spyder would do very well in the cold. It’s pedigree is the snowmobile. :dontknow:

It does, it does very well. I'm pushing mine threw it's second winter and it runs great. I murder my battery with heated gear and cold starts but overall the performance is nothing short of phenomenal. I ride everyday and commute 157 miles a day, with 90% of that on the highway shattering speed limits.

When we drop below zero, I pull out the battery tender and plug in nightly to give me a boost in the morning. oh yeah, I also park outdoors and not in a garage.
