• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cold Spyder "Moan"

After sitting for any extended period of time (a couple of days or so) the Spyder 'moans' when backed up...using power or simply pushing it backward. "Moan" is the only word I can think of to describe the sound. It doesn't keep happening...after being driven, there is no 'moan' in reverse. I suspect this has something to do with the brakes but I am a mechanical pre-beginner. Has anyone had this occur? Does anyone know what's happening here?

It can be the brakes, which tend to pick up moisture when sitting, then vibrate as the pads pass over the turning rotor (much like resin on a violin bow causes it to make the strings sound off). If the noise stops when you apply the brakes lightly, that is likely the case. If not, it is probably the belt making noise on the sprockets. BRP has a service bulletin calling for a greasing procedure if that is the case.

Just tell your neighbor that the bike's not truly ready for the day until it's had it's second cup of coffee! :roflblack:

This happens with mine too. The brakes seem to work great so I didn't worry about it. Then they started screeching and subsequently locking up. Shop time! Fortunately, covered by warranty.

It's nice having a moaner. Yep it's those darn brakes. I don't think it's worth it to change them though unless they are also squealing. Then you could add that squeal stop stuff and MAYBE it might change the moan.

Mine does this after sitting for a few hours in one place. Also I never push it, but seems to make noise when I have it in reverse. Seems to go away quickly after warmed up and have not noticed any problems with the brakes. I have had my dealer go all over the bike, but they can find nothing wrong with it that would make this noise! Interested in what others have found out about it!
