COLD FEET

Well, I regret to say it, but I'm starting to get "cold feet" about buying the Spyder SE5. With all that has been said about not meeting the September deadline, and all the discussion about other negative aspects of BRP, I don't know if I want the thing anymore.

We just had a big CanAm test ride out here in Wilmington, Illinois (about 10 minutes from me), and all the talk was about the SE5 not being available/delivered until after November....sometime early December. This just doesn't set well with me, and that's why I'm pretty sure I'm getting out. :'(

I guess I'll call my dealer next week and ask for my deposit back. He did state earlier that he WOULD be willing to give it back to me. I ordered mine back in December, and I guess there's a bunch of people willing to fill my position in line for the SE5.

Anyway, it's been nice visiting this forum, and interacting with all of you about the Spyder.

Enjoy the ride!

Did you get a chance to ryde the SE5 then???

How was it?

Don't let the 'possible' delayed shipping be your deciding factor!

They have met every deadline as far as I know... I don't know of anyone that has not received their Spyder by the date printed on their contract.

The wait will seem like forever.... most of us went through this.... but it was worth it in the end.... this is a unit that will give you a lifetime of enjoyment!

Just think about it before giving up on it!

You might as well keep your place in line for the summer... you're dealer would still give you your deposit back in the fall I'm sure..... so why not just let them hold onto your $1,000 for the summer just in case?

I hope you stay the course on this..... you'll love the spyder!

Derwin, You've been one of the most entertaining "interactors" on this forum. With all the ups & downs you've had with the desicion making process... it'll be a shame to see you throw the towel in now. I have 13500 km's on mine and say to you, with authority, it'll be worth the wait. Don't loose faith, you'll be sorry you did. Plus, we'd miss you here.

Derwin,
I agree with the others who have responded, please don't give up. The fun you'll have when it arrives will help to ease the wait. I'm also waiting for the SE. Don't like it but will accept it. Also, I'm willing to bet you that you'll have it by 8/23. Don't know why but I'll put my $.05 on the line.

Paul

:(DON'T GIVE UP! It will be well worth the wait! so you got one summer to wait - but this summer you can read up and dream of all the mods you wanna put on it - It will be worth it - you've come this far! :doorag:

Derwin,

You sound old enough to know what it's like to live with a few regrets. If you decide to drop your place in line now, I can promise you the first time you see someone riding a Spyder round your neighborhood you'll be wondering if it shoulda, woulda, coulda been YOURS!

Another poster has already given you sage advice -- you already have the deposit in and a place in the delivery que, obviously you don't need the cash. Let it ride!

Best case, they call you a few months from now to tell you your new Spyder is waiting at the dealer. If things go badly, you'll be disappointed when BRP misses the agreed upon delivery date, and you'll have to decide then whether or not to take back your deposit. There is a spectrum from good to bad between those two, but only one possible scenario I can think of that's worse. The absolute worst case is you take back your deposit now and BRP delivers on time... TO SOMEONE ELSE!

That would be a tough regret to live with.

Regards,

Mark

Gee Derwin,

Is there a cliff close by your house your wanting to jump off. ;D.. You are one of the best members of this forum. All I can say is that we would miss you terribly if you leave. The ying and yang of this waiting thing is really showing when someone like you, lets the fork in a road make you TURN AROUND!!!! At least wait to hear what someone from Valcourt has learned.....

WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE :edit: :edit: TELL US WHAT THEY FOUND OUT AT VALCOURT. (you could save a great contributor to Spyderlovers.com from vanishing.

While on the tour at Valcourt - it has been reported from Marc who runs spydertalk.com...... that the SE5's go in to production NEXT WEEK !

If you can't wait for an SE5 then pick up a SM5 and enjoy it now. Then when production finally catches up you can get one. They put mine off for a while, it was supposed to be a month ago. They finally called and let me know they had 2 yellows in but no word on a silver one. I have decided to wait since summer is here and it gets too hot to ride without turning into a big sweat ball. Plus the prices are starting to come down on the ones from eBay. $15,799.00 buy-it-now from a dealer in FL with only a $566.00 freight and $198.00 prep fee added to final price. My dealer wanted $590 shipping and $750 for assembly, $300 sales tax, and $45 license fee for a total of $17,184. I'd save money going down to Jacksonville and getting it.

Hey Derwin....Great things are worth waiting for......having been riding 2 and 3 wheels for 53 years and owned about 67 total units I can tell you SPYDER stands in a real special spot in the fun factor category!Don't bail if you really want to experience entering that ZONE!Change your outlook from COLD FEET to BURNING DESIRE!!!!

I just got back from a fishing trip in the northwoods of Wisconsin. Not a great time fishing, but that's a whole other story!

First thing I did upon coming back is to look at my email. Well, I received an urgent message from a person who has contacted me in the past, and he advized me not to back out of my Spyder purchase. We just finished a phone conversation, and he assured me that not only me, but EVERYBODY (with the certificate) will be getting their Spyder SE5's by the promised date of September. We discussed this in a bit more detail, and he assured me that I would be very happy with my delivery date in particular. No November or December delivery! ;D

So, I am now officially back in! I apologize for this roller-coaster ride I've taken everybody on in regards to my Spyder journey. But at the end of the day, after all of the ups and downs, I'm gonna be one happy camper!

Thanks for all the support along the way.

Glad to have you back, Derwin. You had us all worried when we heard nothing. You will not be disappointed in the wait, even if it turns out to be November, That will make you crazy until Spring, but then you will have so much fun you will forget the pain in an instant. Just try not to think about it too much, try not to worry, and don't count the days. ;D Great to have you back!

Glad to see you are back. With the time you already have in, the remaining wait should be nothing

Glad you're gonna stick it out Derwin !

Not sure if you read it or not... but people at the factory said the SE5 units are going into production NEXT WEEK !

Your dealer in Benton Harbor was supposed to have a Spyder demo last weekend.. but it got cancelled.... I was hoping to go check out the SE5..
