• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Co-share Spyder experience?

Do any of you have actual experience co-owning a Spyder? A good friend and I want to get a new F3, we can each afford half. People do this with planes, cars and boats, why not a Spyder? We'd draw up a contract that spells out responsibilities in advance. Thoughts?

Well if you can work it out that would be great!! Now me. No way. I tried to "share" our RT with my hubby. He wanted to drive it all the time and so did I. Neither of us wanted to ride as passenger. This lasted 6 months. Went back to the dealer and bought another bike.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Could work..

..Just a few suggestions:

  • Each person would have use of the Spyder on alternate weeks.
  • Charge a per-mile fee to cover costs like maintenance, tires, insurance etc. Money in a joint account.

Run like joint ownership of an expensive boat or aircraft. There may even be Forums to view that cover joint ownership of boats, etc. that you could gather information from.

Just thinking.

If each of you can afford half, and by that I mean if each of you could pay cash for your half, why not each of you buy an F3 and finance the other half. By sharing a Spyder I see too many problems regarding who wants to ride and when.

Don't

How do you ride together? Get your own. You can get a nice used one for about half of new. Do that! JMHO, Joe

kinda sounds like sharing a wife/girlfriend... it won't work !!

:yikes: :agree:

I think only you can determine if it would work based on how your friendship has been in the past.

Though I think it would be better for each of you to have your own Spyder, Don has some good ideas in the event you do go partners on one.

Maliamd------ This is exactly what my wife is planning with our new F3S. We both have our own 2wheelers. The F3 will be our first
Spyder (but we have owned other trikes) but she thinks one of us will drive one way and one will drive back.:banghead:. So we will see
if it is even 6 mos. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: She hates riding behind me and I hate riding behind her.

A partnership agreement, as proposed, could lead to more problems than it is worth. An easy way to lose a friendship.

I recommend purchasing older and used. $10K ballpark will get you a pretty good used :ani29:.

GaryTheBadger,

First let me say, I haven't seen you post in awhile. So, it's nice to hear from you again. I'd say go for it.
