Not sure how this forum feels about mentioning dealer names, especially in a bad light. For that reason I left the name out in the following.
I posted here before about having problems with the clutch sticking. The bike would continue to move after I came to a complete stop. Sometimes just a crawl, sometimes 1-3 mph and sometimes I had to press the break all the way down to keep it from taking off. In addition the engine would sometimes rev around 2200 rpm. At the 600 mile service the tech noticed the problem also. They had it for 2 ½ weeks before they fixed the problem. When I finally picked up the bike, the service manager told me that the rpm problem had been fixed and so had the sticking clutch, however, it may still stick from time to time but “these bikes just do that”. Never having any experience with these bikes, I took him at his word and happily took my :spyder: home. Thankfully I found this forum and asked about the situation. Docdoru was one of those who responded. I realized that he lives in the same area as I, and asked him if he would mind meeting me and test driving my :spyder:. He agreed and we meet (at a different dealership).
He introduced me to the service staff at this dealership and I can say I felt much better talking to them, than the other dealership. Then Doc took my :spyder: for a ride. A short time later he returned to the dealership with a bike that would barely move. :dontknow:Needless to say, I left the bike at the dealership. :gaah:
One of the complaints I had about the previous dealership was they would not stay in touch and let me know what was going on.
In fact, at one point they told me that each time I called them, I was interrupting the tech that was working on my bike. :hun: (I only called about 4 times in the 2 ½ weeks they had it.)
But I digress,
As it turns out the clutch plate “blew up” :yikes:and went throughout the engine. A 3 to 4 week fix.:gaah: This dealership has kept in touch and let me know in detail what is going on. They even took me back to look at the engine and clutch, and explained what the problem was and what they were doing to fix it. First time they have encountered this problem by the way.
One last thing, when I left it with the dealer. Docdoru offered, and gave me and my wife, who he had never met before, a ride home. Once home I offered to give him money for gas. He refused and said this is what spyder riders do for each other! :2thumbs: Faith in humanity restored, I impatiently await the completion of repairs but feel comfortable my Spyder is in good hands.
Thanks again Docdoru! So glad to be a part of this community!
