There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Clutch or Electric Issues on RS 2010!!!!!

Looking for some help and information on a problem I am experiencing on my Spyder RS 2010. Just had a major tune up done by my dealer and had no issues going home. But that night when going home the check transmission light came on and after I got home I checked the oil level which was fine. Removed the key and then restarted and light was gone. So the next day coming home from work I was in 3rd gear and slowed down for a intersection and applied some throttle after I passed the intersection and the bike only revved up and would not go but the bike indicated it was in 3rd gear. So I pulled off the road and turned off engine and removed the key to reset computer... I had to this a couple of times before the bike would actually shift again. :banghead::banghead: Made it home with no other problems, however a couple of days later coming off the freeway, I down shifted to 4th gear and the same issue came up again. Did the key removal and finally was able to shift and no other problems... So any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am taking the Spyder back to dealer but was wondering what could be the cause.

Little checking..!!

I see from your profile it is an se5. There are several things involved..gear position sensor, shifting selenoids, paddle shifter and clutch. Now having run fine up to the service they may have done something to affect the shifting. Oil level is good you said so you need to move on. If you can pull up any active codes when this happens it could pin point where to look. If you have Roger's app you can do this quite easily...

Sounds very likely dealership messed something up on that "major tune-up"! Dealer is going to have to figure this one out and fess up.:cus:

Please do let us know what the dealer discovers... I don't believe in "coincidences", they made a mistake somewhere almost certainly.

ps. What's your mileage? What did this "major tune-up" involve do you know?

Spyder Update!!!!!

Got a call from the dealer today. The service guy Pat wanted to give me an update on issue mentioned earlier. The said the mechanic was able to duplicate the issue with the Spyder clutch disengaging (SE Clutch) while riding or shifting. But cannot find the problem and the mechanic is still troubleshooting!!!!! :cus::cus::banghead::banghead::banghead:. Hope they find something soon because the Heart of Washington is coming up fast and already have hotel and paid for..... Bruce

Update!!

My Spyder is repaired and the cause of the problems were I chose the wrong wire to splice for my GPS connections. :banghead::banghead: So just a warning to everyone be selective on which wire to use when installing new devices..I was looking for a switched wire so the GPS would turn off when the key is off. Well at least my Spyder is fixed and I will be able to attend Heart of Washington event next week...:ohyea:

It is interesting to know how things turned out and telling us the root cause of your problem. Thanks.
I am also curious to know the line you spliced into.

Billy,

The wire I spliced into was hot wire to the TCM Module for the Transmission and it was making the voltage to the Module reduced some how causing the shifting out gear problem. I also going to be careful of the type of line splice to use too..
