Clutch Cable Routing

Hello all...first off, this is my first post here. I just bought wifey a 2015 F3S SM6. She showed interest in it back in August and I told her 'Let's wait until next year". After some pondering, I decided to get it for her for Christmas (she was VERY good last year). :2thumbs: Although I am a sport bike rider myself (Yamaha R1...and she already has a Yamaha R6) I have to say that I REALLY like this machine. I rode it home from the dealer, which is about 30 miles, and although it was raining, I liked how the F3 rode and handled!

One of the reasons she liked the F3 was because of the Ufit system. She is "vertically challenged" (about 4' 12" :D) and the ability to adjust the riding position was awesome. I just installed the short reach handlebars (along with moving the brake and shifter back), which was pretty easy...took less than an hour. My only question is, in putting the clutch side handle back on, I am not sure about the routing of the clutch cable and I didn't think to take a pic before removing it. The way I have it routed right now, which seems to be the only way, I just have a concern about it rubbing near the yoke when turning. I may just run out to a dealer and check out a stock one but was wondering if anyone could post a pic of how theirs is routed.

Thanks!

There's not a whole lot you can do different with that cable. You should be fine the way it is. If you want to take a pic and post it we can say for sure. :doorag:

My wife is just a little taller than yours...5'0". Two more mods she might like:
1. Do a search to see how some have lowered the brake pedal. The altered position is a vast improvement for my wife.
2. The BRP kit for the clutch assist substantially lowers the effort at the lever. Again, much easier for a smaller person to operate.

She must be a very strong woman to be able to use the clutch on a F3. nojoke I find them dang hard to pull in. A lot harder than my 1800 Valkyrie.

Curious. ....

Am I missing something...:dontknow: the clutch is hydraulic and the hose is long enough to accommodate any position (oem) . Should follow up the column swing over to the reservoir on the outside of the bars....smooth turns to avoid kinking....

That's pretty much what I figured. This is how it's routed...which seems to be the only way...I had the cable on top of the clips/wire bundle, but after turning the handlebars, it pretty much went back to that position. Since I have not had a chance to wrench on it yet, I just was not sure 1) how much slack was down there, 2) would the cable rubbing be an issue and 3) as it will be my wife riding it, being too concerned will never be an issue for me.

Thanks!!

1. I've adjusted it to position #2 and she is comfortable on it...but yes, the brake pedal is a tad high. I will wait until the weather breaks for her to actually be able to take it out, but if it does turn out to be an issue for her, I will probably do this mod

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?86094-F3-Brake-Pedal-Lowered

2. That is the first thing she mentioned after sitting on it with the short reach handlebars...she even squeezed the clutch on her R6 just to make sure she was not crazy...so yes, I will be looking into the clutch assist.

Thanks for the advice!!
