• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just got my Buds software and found that there is a version 50.1 firmware available for the dash cluster. I loaded it but not sure what was updated and can't find any information on it. Just thought I'd let you know in the event anyone wants to update their dash cluster. I have a 21 RTL so I am not sure if it will also be for the 2020.

Thanks for letting us know.

I thought you couldn't download bike software updates unless you were an actual dealer with an actual dealer account?

How do you download an update on the bike and install it? and how do you know what version of you have?

I did find out how to see what you have - The version of the display firmware installed on your vehicle can easily be found under the “settings” (long press on the center of the controller located on the left handlebar, last menu at the bottom). Choose the second-to-last menu titled “About.” The firmware version is at the top of the screen.

But it does not tell how to update if needed.

you have to buy the diagnostic software called "BUDS" or "BUDS2", not cheap, but will allow you fix all those things a dealer can do.

For the 21 Spyder RTL you also need a USB A male To USB A male cable also that does not come with the kit. Not sure about other years.

Yeah I know you have to buy the software but I thought only real dealers were able to log into the BRP dealer website to download firmware updates.

It depends where you get your BUDS license. If you get it from ebay, your out of luck for updates. If you get it from powersports-diag.com, they have access to the BRP updates and forward them to you upon request.

I got mine powersports-diag.com and it worked out of the box, I did not have to contact them.

I did notice that they may have fixed the sensor for the day/night auto switching. It appears to be working much better, still have to do some more testing.

Thanks Joel. I didn't realize there was a difference.

I think the update is to improve/fix the light sensor for day/night screen. Only the 2021 and newer models have it.

I don't think the earlier models will have an update. so the 2018/19 should have 20.8 - the 2020 should have 30.7 & the 2021/newer should have 50.1 updated from 40.6

I can confirm that my 2020 RTL has the 30.7 software and does not want to upgrade to the 50.1. I haven't yet tried this update on our 2021 F3...

Thanks for this info. :2thumbs: Mine also has the 30.7 and I was wondering if it needed updating.

If you only need an update and don't want to get 'Buds' the dealers charge $70 (at least that is what it cost me in Phx) to do the update

The 2018/19's should have 20.8 - the 2020's have 30.7 & the 2021 and newer have 40.6 and seems to be only models getting the 50.1 update.

If you have any works done they will update as part of the work. To just have the dash updated can cost $$.

Interesting that the 2020 MY will not get this update. My understanding is that there were no differences in the 20/21 units so we would expect the digital console is likely the same on both.
