• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CLUSTER REPLACED

When my cluster was replaced last summer, I lost all my mileage. According to my dealer, they cannot recapture it. My total mileage is minus around 5000 miles. Has this happened to anyone else, if so, were they able to reestablish your original mileage.

It has happened to many and there is no way for them to recapture the mileage. If there was a way it would make it easy for people to roll back the odometer and falsify mileage on resales.

I would say, it's happened to 50% of us....Well, I don't know for sure, but it's a high number. The mileage cannot be added. You'll just have to disclose it at the time of sale. It should be easy enough to prove mileage with dealer records.

Several people have said cluster failure is common among bikes, so it's not the issue it would be on cars.

This is an issue BRP should address.

I understand that the dealers shouldn't be able to change the mileage.
That would be like giving the fox the keys to the hen house.

But there should be a process that would ensure legitimate mileage could be restored when a cluster is replaced.

:agree: 110%

If BUDS can read the RPM's the rYder used to change gears, why cannot it read the milage off the cluster, send it to BRP so they can add it to the replacement cluster, and go from there...

:dontknow:

How did the cluster fail? And was it drivable in the "failed" condition? Mine is acting up intermittently but dealer was not able to find anything...yet!

There is a simple procedure to disclose the miles of the vehicle if the odometer, in this case, the cluster, has been replaced.
You simply fill out a form when you sell the vehicle.
I've had my cluster replaced, along with a whole boatload of folks as part of "PTT CB problem".
I had my cluster replaced at 12,500 miles, and I'm sneaking up to another 12,500 miles pretty soon for total of 25, 000.
My dealer has included a note about the additional mileage in my account and it shows up on all the invoices.
I'll need that and the current mileage to get my 25 K pin.
If, and I mean IF....BRP is still giving them out.

It amazes me as to how techenical this machine is and in my own experience i have had two HD speedo clusters changed and the dealer sent them off and had the milage installed on them before installing the cluster on my bike.
Why with all the advances these trykes have couldent they BRP reset the milage for the dealer before installing on a customers tryke? That seems it would be far easyier than fighting with Nanny.

HD is the only one that does this, as far as I know. In addition, it appears to be illegal under some state laws...as stupid as that may be. In their efforts to prevent odometer fraud, things seem to have gotten quite complicated.

????? What is he waiting to find? How is it "acting up"?

The analog tach is reading sometimes half of what digital tach is, once it would not show any RPM. The dealer said it never logged a code and they never saw it happen. They said to get warrantee from my insurance company they have to have proof that it is acting up. Next time it happens I will get a picture of it, he said that would suffice. The technician spent four hours on it and I had to pay 1 hour diagnostic time. I can recoup this when it does actually fails and they submit the claim, just hope it doesn't strand me somewhere.

If your Spyder is on warranty, your dealer is cheating you. They need to replace the cluster. Many of them have failed in exactly the same way, and BRP can verify that if your dealer bothers to ask. The problem will gradually get worse. I'm not sure what proof they need. If it is not doing it often enough for them to see it themselves, take a picture. That satisfied my dealer enough to order a new cluster...although they saw for themselves by the time it came in so it could be replaced. It iis a failure that leaves no codes. Your insurance company has nothing to do with it. I am sorry you seem to have an idiot for a dealer.

I meant warrantee company

Lost mine this past summer. The lens cracked on the left side, under the securing ring, After a three hour run in the rain, I had about 1/2" of water inside the cluster. They don't like water.:banghead: I lost all of the lower portion of the instruments. Mileage cannot be recovered. So anyone want to buy a 2008 Spyder with zero miles, garage kept. Lots of mods, just no miles.;););)
