• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've noticed that I'm getting a "clunking" sound in the front end on hard turns in either direction. Sounds like something heavy rolling around in in the frunk (which is empty). I'll have Cowtown check it out on the 13th.

Any chance it could be associated with my sway bar? If so, is that normal?

I am taking mine into CowTown Monday and dropping it off.
I have asked for the usual oil change maintenance at 15K-----I have also asked them to give me a pre-flight check for our 6K plus road trip.I trust that anything questionable will be dealt with. You can do the same request on the 13th

I'm on their schedule for the 13th to get a thorough check-up and correct a few minor probs. Going to call them Monday to be sure they have bushings in stock just in case that's what it is

Mine did the same thing--- ended up needing to re-tighten the sway bar. It was the pressure against the trunk and the bar would move a bit and cause a 'clunking' against the trunk.

Jack it up and tighten all the sway bar mounts. I did this and the noise went away instantly.:thumbup:

You can probably hear the noise if you stand on your bike and rock it side to side which sitting still.
 
Can't replace the shock bushings, you must replace the entire shock. Check the sway bar mounts first, as Firefly said.

I've done it before, replacing the OEM rubber (which are never any good - pretty much junk right out of the box) with a good polyurethane part. It takes a bit of effort but with some WD-40 the old ones will punch out.

Once I get the specs. on the shock eye / bolt, I should be able to find a perfect replacement. There are all kinds of them out there in metric sizes. The 2 piece are easier to put in but I prefer the hour glass style. I think I'll get RED!

It is amazing what it does for the suspension as long as the shocks are still working well.

Then I can give Doc a run for his money in the twisties! YEAH! :yes:

Of course a set of Elka's would also solve the bushing problem!

Let us know what you come up with for the right sizing. I can pop out the old ones from my original shocks if that will help....

I have been wanting to do mine anyway. I just don't get around to things like I used to.

Old bushings aren't going to give me the OD spec that I need (unless they were in good shape). Bolt size will be no problem.

I think Lamont has a set of RS shocks laying around. He's got a set of EVERYTHING laying around his garage!

And I'm not against someone else doing the leg work either (as long as I get the credit! :roflblack: )
 
If you need to replace the shocks then you may as well put the RT ones on there, as Lamont and others have said they give you a much better ride than the standard GS ones. :thumbup:

I don't know yet if my shocks are bad. On the other hand a set of RT shocks would be a good move. Either would benefit from a good set of bushings.
