CLOSE CALL!!!

I was out riding yesterday and was going thru a traffic light controlled intersection that just turned yellow. I was doing the posted speed limit which was 40mph. No problem right? WRONG! Some woman decided to pull into the intersection to turn left (in front of me), she stopped and THEN turned right in front of me! I locked up the bike and swerved into the on coming traffic lane (empty). I missed her right rear bumper by about 12". No panic or adrenaline rush was experienced by me....however, my lovely passenger on the other hand had a different experience! LOL One would think that with all my lights that my not being seen would never be an issue for the caged driver crowd.

So how many other Spyder Ryders have had a similar "close call" and what were your circumstances?

Been retired since '89. What i miss more than anything is some of the folks I was stationed with throughout my career and some of the countries we were able to see. I still work on various installations from time to time and listening to the talk now, I don't think i would go back in. Had KC10s here at Seymour Johnson for awhile, then they all went to NJ. They have 135Rs now.

We at Travis got the 10s from March when they retired the C-141b. So I had a choice....go to either the C5 or KC10. That was a "No Brainer" decision!

I was stationed at Travis from '76 to '79 and had a real good friend that was a loadmaster on the C-5. I can still remember the KC-135's taking off. Felt like they shaked the building every time. Dale

Wow. All the time.
Riding back to work today from lunch. On a less travelled road, Lexus pulling out of a nice neighborhood, is hell bent that he will squeeze into the oncoming lane between myself and the car ahead of me. So he turns left, he never even considered stopping. But I was watching him way ahead of time and was ready for him, just got on the antilocks hard, and rode on. Gotta watch them, because they sure aren't watching for you! :doorag:

I bet when your driving a car you have almost as many close calls, It's just when your out in the open [On a Trike/bike] it gets up close and personal., I've been doing about 8 hundred miles a month, So Ive gotten use to it. I Just shrug it off and ride on. I don't even barter to hit the horn, All that does is get every one upset.
And think back I'll bet all of us have cut someone off by accident at one time or another, I know i've been guilty of that more than a few times. :doorag:

Glad to hear you & passenger didn't get hurt. I came to the conclusion all the lights and load pipes don't make a difference, it is a size thing. If you are driiving a smaller vehicle than the other driver they don't seem to care much about you!!

Better Driver

One thing I have noticed since I began riding my Spyder RTS, I think I have become a better driver, much more alert not only on the Spyder but also in the car. Maybe everyone should be required to have the experience of riding a motorcycle just to see what we have to contend with daily. :sour:

I have said that for many years. Would make a big difference. Should be part of driver training.

I know that riding 2 and 3 wheels has made me a better driver of 4 wheels.
You're so right . . . .they'll look right at ya and it's as though they're looking through ya,
won't even blink when they pull right out in front of you.

Hubby always says that riding a motorcycle for a year should be a requirement before you get your regular drivers license.

I think the closest call I've ever had was in a grocery store parking lot :yikes: . . . . . still gives me the willies to think of it.
It's as though they're driving bumper cars . . . . deliberately aiming for ya!
