CLONE Key's Made

Hello everyone.
Just thought I would pass on some info for those about "CLONING" your Spyder key.

Just to let you know, I have a 2008 GS SM5 Spyder

I have only one key. Lost the Master some time ago.:banghead:

I just got back from my local licenced locksmith who ordered 2 Aprilia Scooters Transponder
Key for me (ZD23RT5) as backups for my only key I have.:)

I should mention that total cost for everything was $35.00 Cdn.

He was able to clone and cut them from the key I have. He has the C30 machine for cloning the
chip in the Spyder key.

Well, I got back home and tried them. They work EXCELLENT. Just like the original. Just had to cut back
some of the plastic so it would fit in properly.

The bike started OK and was able to open my Frunk and pop the seat to get at the gas tank.

The locksmith told me that if they did not work, he would take back the keys and refund my money.

No codes or warnings or anything else popped up on the screen. It's just working as it normally does.

The keys came from Lockpicks.com

I am one happy rider now with extra keys.:D:clap::ohyea:

EXTRA KEYS

I've got a 2013 RT-S, I ordered two Aprilia blank keys from E-bay for $8.00 a piece, took them to my local Ace Hdw. and cut and cloned them, they work great..

Glad to hear that your clones are working...

You can....

at least the 998 models. The new ones have a differnt setup and I don't know if they are able to duplicate them to be fully functional...:banghead: you can cut them but you can't clone them...:banghead: and they are not cheap at the dealer.....

It's nice to have vendors that are willing to work with you on non-standard stuff. Sometimes you get lucky.

Glad that works for you:thumbup: Now to add the chip less spare ilco x270 ,just for opening frunk & maybe a keyport you can also get a chip cloned & then have room for house & office keys too:thumbup: https://mykeyport.com

Hi speedbuggy,

Re: I have a 2008 GS SM5 Spyder

I have a 2008 GS SE5. It came with two BRP keys. I got a new 'cloned' one made & it works perfectly. I then got two more 'cloned' keys.

My two factory keys are put away. One clone is used whenever I ride, the two others are hidden on the Spyder 'just in case.'

Thanks Jerry. I plan on putting one of the keys on a hidden spot on the bike. Haven't decided where to hide it.

... They charge between 35$ ant 90$ to ship 2 keys to Canada !!!

If you plan on being across the border, or know anyone going north you might be able to have it shipped to a US address and handed off to you. I'd love to help you out but I am a bit too far south.

Anyone tried to clone for a 2014 RT? All I see is the listing for up to 2013!
I need 1 and will not pay dealer prices

The 2014 and above bikes use a different chip in the key than the earlier models. I don't recall anyone being able to do a clone of those keys, even though there are several threads about key cloning and some that have tried the 2014.

I had a local locksmith make a key from an ilco x270 blank. I keep the flat key in my billfold in case I loose the real one.
