• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Clock not keeping time

My clock on my 09 gs is not keeping time. Trying to think back I think it began with replacing my battery on February. It seems to be running fast. I reset it Sunday and yesterday it was almost 2 hours off. Any thoughts?

Maybe unrelated- I got my first check engine and limp mode this weekend. It reset after letting it sit for a while. Then I got the check engine light and message after about a 20 mile ride yesterday.

The clock function is probably not related to your limp modes, aside from the needles(electro mechanical), the rest of that panel is almost all surface mount components. Not sure there is a repair at our level other than instrument panel replacement. If they care to do so, it would probably see repair via electronics bench technician. There may be a pot or rheo they can tweek, but since it happened at battey change, almost sounds like some ESD did partial damage to the clock chip or circuit.

I have a 08 Gs, For 3 years it has been running 15 minutes fast, No matter how many times it's reset it keeps perfect time 15 minutes fast..:dontknow:

Has anyone had the problem start up after a battery change? This problem seems a little different than that other thread.
It's funny someone mentioned golf watch in the other thread, either it was tounge in cheek or serious. Golfers have a problem with watches losing accuracy from the swings at each drive.

+That's where mine's settled now, too. Isn't that odd?

Those were 2008 neutrons. It's 2011, now.

Sheesh.

Ride on.

Well now I know it is not just my Spyder that has a clock problem. Goes to show how fast my blue spyder is that the clock has to run fast just to keep up with it :roflblack::roflblack:

Have you tried setting it 15 minutes slow?

Mine ran 10 mins fast, I set it 10 mins slow, in one week it was perfect and has been for months. Kinda strange but it was an easy solution.

I'm not sure the clocks work on any of the earlier GS/RSs...and I can't figure this out...how darn hard is it to make a digitial watch? Darn things keep perfect time forever....however, with the Spyder, they can't get the clock to keep good time and there is really no excuse for this...

The price difference between a good click crystal and support chips and a bad one is a few pennies. Boo for the lowest bidder!

I am going to try this. At first I was upset about the clock, but then started to notice that I was always early where ever I went. I guess there is a positive side to everything.

At 65, who cares about the clock. Never in a hurry and don't care if I'm late. All I really care about is the Gas.:roflblack:

Thinking back to the first nightmare I owned, the clock was the only reliable thing. The newer one doesn't have a problem either.

I would have but then i would have to ask my neighbor's kid to come over to set it for the third time, So I'll just live with it ,
Besides i don't want to get that you old people don't know squat look Again! :(

Still have a piece of black tape over your VCR clock, ehhh? Oh? Sorry, I meant, still have tape over your Betamax clock? :D
