• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cleaning

Dawn and mirofiber

I use warm water, Dawn dish soap and a microfiber wash mitt. Dry with microfiber cloth and wax with ICE. Occasionally I use Plexus on windshield but Dawn and warm water does the trick. I also use the hose but don't blow it in the radiators.

Does anyone else use soap and water? What are the panels made of that would preclude me from using soap and water? I have dusted my spider with a professional duster for high end cars so far. I think it is time to really clean up the spyder . Or are all the products mentioned here use to make the spyder shine like the use of a wax?

See post #12.

See post #12.

Thanks Granpa. I posted because post 12 was the only one to use soap and water. It seems like the vast majority uses one product or another. I was questioning why?

I used soap and water and had no problems. I thought it might leave streaks. But the spyder came out clean. I was careful not to get the dash wet. That I used a damp cloth and I was able to get the dust off them.

I am still curious, what are the panels made of? Is it plastic?

I like this, which does great dissolving all sorts of crud . . .

And this for the windshield and my visor

Both do a great job. I also use this to wax the Tupperware . . .

Yep - it's plastic.

#21 starts off with soap and water.

Use a high quality auto wash soap. They are designed to remove the dirt and leave the wax. Dish soap, laundry soap are very harsh and strip the wax off. As for the panels, I put a smudge of white grease on the post of the cover and it will make a world of difference the next time you remove and replace it. Been doing it on every bike I have ever owned and never lost a cover. There is a danger when putting them back on you have to push so hard that it shoves the rubber out of the frame. Also look at the rubber grommet. If it is worn or cracked, replace them. I keep a supply on hand and even the goofy shaped ones from BRP are cheap.

We use a 50/50 mix of Hydrogen Peroxide and water in a spray bottle to get the bugs off and finish up with Novus 1 on the windshield and light lens and a spray detailer to finish of the rest of the Tupperware. (pink and black aerosol can't remember the brand, must be my 'some-timers' kicking in!) microfiber clothes or a good chamois.
