• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cleaning while traveling

I have the 2011 rss in the satin copper and black. When I traveled with my bikes I always used Honda or Harly spray cleaner (lemon pledge I think) but not sure how this stuff would work on the satin finish paint. Any suggestions.

cleaning

I just bought the same one you did about six weeks ago, except mine came with gloss black fenders.mistake from the factory.but i like the glossey look. anyway i use the spray wax from the can on the orange color and it does a good job,and i use meguiars natural shine protectant like you use on seats for the flat black,to give it a little britness or simigloss look...........

"Cleaning while traveling" That's what rain is for. :ohyea: Time spent cleaning is lost highway time! :D My motto is a dirty bike is a happy bike.

I like your way of thinking. Bugs give a Spyder character. When I had a phantom Spyder I used Windex on it.

I used to clean mine every time I had the chance, It's something I've always done being a trucker the cleaner it is the most likely DOT won't screw with you. The only problem i have now is we have TWO :spyder2: and i don't have any time to do much else. but I still keep the :spyder2:clean . jc

Cleaning?? I use whatever soap the Hotel provides! :D Oh... you meant the Spyders... :opps:

The bike gets cleaned once I'm home. I'd rather be riding than cleaning so even that is sort of a rare occurrence.

I never clean when I'm traveling, I always wait till I'm parked somewhere first. :joke:

Now some folks are better at doing stuff while traveling :D:yikes:

For those that prefer to wait, do you use a pretreatment prior to highway ryding? I used to spray "Pam" on my deflector and grill on my pickup.

Using ProTech spray cleaner on a regular basis keeps the surface of the bike slippery enough so nothing really sticks. I then clean when I get home, the bike also.

Plexus for me does the trick, but I'll only spot clean on the road to get the bugs off the windshield and frunk.

Anything more than that seems to me to be a waste of effort and riding time!

John, having two spyders isn't a problem. That's called doubling you're pleasure.

Chris.

When we are traveling I try to clean the Spyder in the morning before we head out. I carry disposable towels that you can get from most any auto supplier. I have them for the Corbin leather, windscreen, and body panels. Doesn't take very long and the bugs are easier to clean off while they are fresh.

Besides, I want it looking nice when folks surround it at every fuel stop keeping me from being able to go pee. :gaah::roflblack:

I use Zaino products. Wait till you are on a long, long ride, drink 8 monster energy drinks and chew monster gum, get to the hotel and spend the morning cleaning the spyder instead of sleeping. Trust me, it works.
Or if you have good rain gear, run thru the automatic car wash.

cleaning

I found a new product that works great. Called BUGSLIDE and even comes in a small 4 oz for travel. Can be used in the sun and on very part of your bike. J&P Cycles has it as well as other places,,have fun cleaning,,,:2thumbs: Jim
