• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bought a can of XPS spray cleaner and polisher and a couple of micro fiber cloths. Cleaned my RT with no water, spray on and wipe off..leaves it sparkling...great on windshield also! Did the whole bike in about 15 minutes......leaves plenty of time for scootin around in this perfect SE Texas weather!

xps

is this an automotive product? how did it do on bugs and tar? where do you get it? how much? is that enough questions? we crave every last detail.no,seriously,,,, it would be nice to NOT drag out the hose and soap for a wash.:thumbup::thumbup:

Bought it where I bought my spyder...dealer said it's made for motorcycles, 4 wheelers, etc., dealer said it's what they use to clean all their vehicles. Paid $9 and change.....I "might" have used a 30th of the can cleaning the bike....it was great on bugs but I didn't have any tar to try it on or else it wiped it off without me even noticing it. I haven't looked but I would think you could google it if your dealer doesn't have it. I'm a pretty lazy old guy when it comes to washing vehicles so I am super impressed with this stuff! Aha...just noticed on the can that it is distributed by "BRP"!

I have had great luck with "Dollar Store" cans of generic Lemon Pledge. We have very few bugs in Connecticut but I generally wipe down the whole front end after every ride its so cheap!

The only water that touches my ryde is rain. I use Plexus and micro fiber rags on all the plastic parts and Mr. Moto Quick Polish One Step Detailer with wiping rags on all the metal parts. I find stripping all the panels ( which are fastened mostly by Dzus) allows me to clean things thoroughly, which, oddly enough, I find a pleasant chore. Having removed the rear fender permanently eases cleanup in the rear wheel area considerably, too. Granted, it's more time consuming and expensive this way but, as a retiree, I have the time, and my ryde is my hobby. Besides, it's nice when my friends say my '08 looks showroom condition.

My '09 has never seen water except for rain either. It's Lucas Slick Mist and micro fiber cloth on every part including the windshield. Looks like the day I picked her up.

I use a bucket with car wash and hand wash. Do not use a hose. Another bucket with clean water and another rag. Then I dry, then I use the BRP product. In between washes I use the BRP product, works great on all parts.

Is the BRP XPS stuff the same or similar to the Honda Spray/Polish? I've been using that stuff for years.

Its always a good idea to hose it down first and maybe a warm soapy water wash. The idea being to remove the fine grit which will scratch you finish.

I like the Honda spray Polish. Great stuff, and it lays down a coating that helps keep the dirt from sticking the NEXT time you clean it up.

what to wash with

I use a product called bug slide. I buy it at our local Harley stores. Cleans and shines at the same time with micro fiber.

I use Lucas Slick Mist an Scott Shop Towels... It take the bugs off really good an leave the bike very nice... I never put water on mine (unless caught in rain) lol..

Thanks for Sharing! I have been using honda Shine for years and it works well on Windshield and plastic. When it runs out, I will pick up some BRP XPS. I think XPS is a division of BRP as there are a number of products with that inscription alongside the BRP Brand

According to Lucasoil.com:
http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?catid=18&iid=79&loc=show

"Lucas Oil Slick Mist is a polymer paint gloss intensifier, which can be used on other surfaces such as glass, chrome and vinyl decals."
"•Excellent Results on Chrome, Glass and Vinyl Decals"

Clicker, how long have you been using it?
I was trying to find a good non-abrasive windshield cleaner that won't discolor, craze or glaze my windshield for years to come.
