There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Cleaning the back wheel on your RT

So I have switched from an "08" RS to an RT and I have to tell you the back wheel is so difficult to clean. Any tips? or quick ways to get this done..... Spray on cleaner perhaps?

Thanks all
Rich

+1 on Spectaculr's frequent cleaning recommendation. I use plain Turtle Wax car wash soap and wash mitt. I do the rims last and the TW gets the brake dust off as easily as wheel cleaner. Yes, I have to move the Spyder once to ensure I clean all 360[SUP]o[/SUP] of the three rims and rear sprocket but it's not a big deal.

Have to agree with spectacular spiderman and jaybros, i don't let brake dust build up on mine either. I keep mine wiped off with a lint free towel. If i get caught in the rain, i wash it with car wash soap and dry it off after i park it in the shed. :coffee:

Yes the rim gets dirty and not just from brake dust.
I use a wet toilet brush believe it or not! It gets in and around the rim pretty easy.

If I am not washing the Spyder and just want to wipe off this dirt dry, I use a Swiffer duster that has a long handle.

OR THIS

Get some Paint thinner from Home Depot ....THE WATER SOLUABLE KIND .....and just use a rag...soak it ...and reach in wipe what you can then move the wheel....repeat.......the spray from the hose will do the rest..........Mike

Mike, why Paint Thinner??? Does it act as a Preventitive after or helps with the clean up later??

P.T.

It has the ability to remove just about any substance ( except for DRY PAINT ) so what dirty grimy stuff is on the wheel gets broken down chemically and your garden hose can just wash it off.............Also it's pretty in-expensive compared to similar products.......Mike

Tried this with the short extendable handle . Works great even for the front suspension. Sprayed a little extra pledge on it to help hold the dust. Thanks, for the good idea.

Dust...

key word is dust. As long you don't get it wet (we are in a drought) it all wipes clean with a microfiber cloth. Occational spots with some WD40...I check it after long rydes and just wipe it off. You RT guys don't see the back wheel that much anyway...:roflblack::roflblack:

I guess each to their own, I like to keep my rim clean but I dont clean it every time, when I see it building up I wash it with soap and water after first wetting down with royal purple cleaner. This cleans the tire and the rim. I wax the rim after about every 5-6 washes and I apply tire black to the rubber about once every 6 months. This keeps my bike looking new and well cared for.

I couldn't agree more. Just ride, thats why you bought it.

I like the toilet brush idea....especially if you have bad knees or a bad back and find it difficult to get in around the frame and sprocket !

As far as cleaning....their is nothing wrong with keeping a bike clean (pride in ownership !) ;);):spyder2:

My Harley bud said he had not cleaned the bugs off his in over 2 years....I told him maybe the bug gutts is the only thing holding it together ! :doorag:

I like shine :
