• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Thinking of going chrome on the 2013 Handlebar Retrofit. Anyone have any experience with chrome handlebars causing glare and vision problems?

I am getting mine installed next week.. I was actually thinking more in terms of the adjustable GPS mount
actually improving visibility, at least for that unit. I have never experienced any problems with other chrome and
I LOVE BLING

I had a 2009 GoldWing, it had a plastic cover over the center control console and refected a lot of light back into my eyes, I traded the Goldwing for 2011 RT LTD, I got everything chromed except the handle bars, did not like the glare from the Wing and I knew chrome handlebars would be worse, but they sure are pretty!

Never had a problem with my handle bars reflecting to where I can't see, I remember once it might have happened and I looked away. I also don't stare at the sun:yes: probably more glare when I am filming with my drift camera.

Depending on your seated height and the size of your windshield (2010 is 27" tall, smaller in more recent years) as well as where you adjust your windshield (full up may be worst), you could be bothered by glare reflection off the handlebars into the windshield.

There have been some times when I've had my windshield full up (2010 RTS) and the sun angle was just right that I was able to see the reflection of the key in the upper center part of the windshield where my vision path wanted to see through. At those times I would consider getting flat black paint to make the handle bare more invisible / less prone to this sort of veiling glare. I could only imagine how bad a chromed handle bar cover would reflect off the windshield in these same conditions for me.

Taller riders, shorter height windshields, and lower position of the windshield all would make the veiling glare a non issue. So I'll probably be ok when I get the new adjustable vent windshield (25" tall)..... Will see.

The chinpiece on a full-face helmet may also block your direct line of sight down to the bars.... Thus; no glare!
 Uh... you DO wear a helmet; right?

I've never experienced any blinding glare off my chrome handlebars. The AZ sun can be

I have to argue with the above poster, what he says is not entirely true, Iam researching this right now and will post again.

I don't have direct experience with the chrome, but there are many threads about the poor visibility of the turn signal indicators on the dashboard.

Many people, including myself, have resorted to external lights on the mirrors in order to see when the turn signals are on.

The problem is the reflection off the handlebars onto the panel display. Even the reflection off the painted handlebars washes out parts of the display.

I can only imagine that chrome makes this situation worse.

:agree: with most above................I have had the chrome handlebars (along with everything else chrome that BRP offers) on our RT LTD since we bought the :spyder:and have never had any issue in the 23K+ miles that we have driven!:2thumbs: I say "go for it"!
