• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A hole in the rim in the wrong place could lead to stress failures of the rim They put it in the meatier area closer to the spokes for a reason, I suspect. We can't all re-engineer everything, we have to trust that the engineers have their reasons, and they have done their calculations.

Not that this matters....But prior to drilling the hole in the rim I consulted with a professional " DRAG RACER " who measured the thickness of the rim ( where the hole was going to be made ) and said " GO FOR IT ".... and my entire RIM has to be destroyed before the valve stem can be touched .......That is not the case with the OEM position ...Just sayin.......Mike...:thumbup:
 
When BRP contracted with a rim manufacturer back in 06 that's where the manufacturer put the hole, Simple as that! No conspiracy to make your air checking difficult.

At the next tyre change, get a 2 inch valve stem fitted - clears the belt & pulley and allows more flex to get the gauge on. :2thumbs:

But be careful of those longer right angled ones. At high speeds they have been known to leak due to more mass wiggling about. A fellow rider had them and we couldn't figure out why he was losing tire pressure after a few laps on the track. That is, until we wiggled those valve stems.

Bob I also plan to move the Valve stem on my RSS .......I'm just a " REBEL "....and I also don't choose to use genuine BRP dealer supplied air in my tires, not because I can't afford it........just because ........Mike :gaah:

I have 8000 + miles on my KURVEYGIRL'S AND ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS......But you can do what ever you want....good Luck Mike

Same here, I have my own compressor so i use Jersey air. As far as being a Rebel, I do thing's that
make the hair on the back of some engineers necks stand up.
As far as the placement of the valve stem,That's tradition where they place it, Kind of like the reason
that every Greek dinner in the NY/NJ area serves Split Pea soup on Thursday's.

You are welcome ...I did research it, and saw the ones you posted and pictured...they are aluminum and are favored by the people who count weight savings in " GRAMS ".. but they are not very sturdy and as I stated the internal stem is too short......they will only work on a mtc type rim that is curved in the middle because that is where you mount them...Sorry for the long winded explantion but I just thought all would like to know " WHY " , the Kurveygirl is best...also the aluminum ones are about $ 25 + each .......K-girl $ 5 each......you do the math :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:...Mike
 
Or when you change the rear tire just move the stem to the other side of the wheel...and get an 85 degree metal mtc stem from Kurveygirl.com 2@$10 + 2.50 to ship it .......Merry Christmas ....Mike..:2excited:




Can this stem be used where the original stem is now? Looks like it might be easier to get to.
