our parents gave us vix balls. they would take a small scoop of vix vapor rub, role it is some sugar, and have us eat it.

Whisky, lemon juice and honey pretty much a standard remedy when I was a kid in England, and my own kids as they grew.

Sure fire cure for a cough. Jack Daniels and Ex Lax. One makes you afraid to cough the other not care.
