• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check out the New Garmin Zumo XT2

Hmmm...I literally JUST opened up a new XT this afternoon - its literally still downloading updates. Now I need to contemplate returning it and getting the newer one. I think I'll wait until tomorrow and make sure the larger one will fit inside a set of Helibars that arrive tomorrow.

I very rarely take more than day trips, and I'm not sure what this would do for me beyond what I can get for free from Waze or Google Maps or similar apps. Right now I don't think its worthwhile for me to spend $600 for a gadget that I would have to remember to take with me whenever stopping and not being with the bike.

Vito, there are several ways, both expensive and cheap, to lock it in its cradle when you leave the Spyder.
But you are correct. If you don’t ride far and find yourself with only satellite reception, there is no real need for a dedicated GPS.

I leave my Zumo XT on with my Touratech lock mount. Not sure the XT2 will fit, but descriptors say same case/mount. Likely they made mods to existing case.

I have a Zumo XT and was curious about the new XT2.
There are some new features and a bigger screen. It looks like the cable is a new design also. I'm not sure if the cradle is the same as the XT.
To be sure, the Zumo XT2 is a nice unit.
If you don't have a GPS and want one, or if you've made up your mind to upgrade an older or broken model, it's well worth the look.
For me, it's a lot like cell phones.
The technology has become so mature that there is little advantage upgrading to the next generation, you need to skip a generation for a worthwhile upgrade.
I will consider upgrading to the XT3.
I'd also like to see some kind of heads-up display, if possible.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong. If I am, I'm sure SOMEBODY on this site will be happy to correct me.

For that kind of money one can buy a totally water proof 8 inch tablet that has satnav and can do so much more.

A tablet was the route I should have went.

Just my .02¢

FYI for those that might care it looks like the XT2 has a USB-C charging port now (yay!). I have one on order and will get to try it out in a couple of days.

At last, Javajaws:thumbup:……mind you, for me, the USB-C is a non event. My XT rarely leaves the cradle, where it is charged while riding, and then performs any auto updates when I park in the garage and turn the Spyder off. I probably only plug it into external power every few months, if that;)

Yeah, mostly a non-issue on this particular type of electronic since most of us have (or will have) it wired to the bike. I just like to standardize everything I have on usb-c because I'm tired of carrying around so many cables. Glad the EU finally came after Apple and is making them go USB-C!
