• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check enging light

I have had my 2011 RT for one week and have had the check engine light come on and off a few times. It normally happens when I come back from a ride and slow down to pull into my drive. Is this a normal Spyder thing?

:welcome: If this is happening in the same place each time (drivway)--do you have some kind of incline going up or down?

Sometimes fluid levels can be the cause. Others, more mechanically inclined will come on and help you solve the issue.

Warning lights are not normal...and have causes. You should see your dealer so he can download the fault history to see what is going on.

Have you checked to see if there are any "active" issues going on?
1. Start it up!
2. Get your left thumb across both "Mode" and "Set" buttons... hold them down!
3. Push in the turnsignal button; as if you were cancelling out a signal

Any active codes should pop up!

Hit "Mode" again to get back to your normal operating screens!

No codes show up. It seems to happen after driving on the highway. When I slow down to make a turn the orange engin icon shows up and sometimes the whole screen turns orange and says check engine. It goes out as soon as I throttle up. Oil level is good. I have to take it to the dealer tomorrow to get a radio installed and they said they will look at it and do all the recalls that are out for this year and model. Thanks for the help.

Maybe it is what I have experienced?. I did hit the brake while I was still playing with the throttle, CHECK ENGINE lights came up and eventually it pushed me into the Nanny, I thought that it must have been the Spyder...but it was me !so, keep a look out for your right foot and right hand behavior, this could be the problem.

Joe thanks that could be it

If you ride the brake, you will get limp mode/orange screen. When going into your driveway, keep your foot off the brake completely and see how it goes....I had the same problem...

Today I tride to duplacate the problem by riding the brake and coldn't make it do it, but it was very cold today. So maybe enging temp, foot on brake, who knows. I'm just glad this group exists, I get no replies from other groups. I guess they think it too stupid of a question to bother to reply too.

I did just how you described, the display light turned blue, (2011 RT) put did not push the Mode botton again. Now that I have read your message I will go out to the garage, should I go through the whole 3 steps again? There were no codes displayed. Will be taking in to dealer some time this week.
Check Engine light came on ,pulled key out waited a few minutes started up just fine, did it twice after 300 miles rides. No limp home message.

Codes only display when they are active. While the check engine warning is showing, go through the "Mode/Set/Cancel" routine to read the codes. After you turn off the switch (or before you start the Spyder) it is too late. The dealer can read occurred codes with BUDS, but you can only read the active ones.
