• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check Engine sign

A while back I posted that my bike was running on only one cylinder and was getting the check engine. So had it repaired and it ended up being the ECM. At a bit over $800. Was doing great till lately and now the check engine sign is coming on again alot! All I have to do is switch the key off and turn it back on to get rid of it but why does it keep coming back on after a couple months? Any one have had this problem or know why? Thanks for any answers.

I'm also getting "check engine" since Saturday. The dealer tech said it was a sensor, cleared the code, and updated my BUDS with the latest specs... no charge. And said to try that a while. Well, the error returned on Sunday and is now constant (but the engine seems to be performing just fine... he said not to worry unless I get Limp Mode).

If someone would re-post how to display the Code, I'll get it and post the number here. I don't have a smartphone with Roger's APP.

TIA! :coffee:

When the light is on...
Lay one of your Thumbs across the "Mode", and "Set" buttons.
Take another thumb, and use that to push in your turnsignal switch. (As if to cancel a signal...)
Any active codes will pop up on the main screen.
Hit "Mode" again, to return to your normal programming! :D

Thanks, Bob. I tried and tried, but never could get a code to display.

The tech said the sensor was in the exhaust stream and I said, "Oh, the O2 sensor?" and he said No but something similar to that. One sensor for each cylinder, but he couldn't tell which one. I'll be returning to get it replaced.

Thanks anyway. :D

I should mention that it'll only pull up a code, when there's something ugly going on...
All the codes that EVER pop are stored in the computer. BUDS can recall them!

P1130 !

This morning I was able to get the code to display, finally! It is P1130. Is that the "O2 sensor"?

I took her in last Monday, the tech cleared the codes, then proceeded to attempt to duplicate the condition by test riding it. No codes, no "check engine" all week, so I picked it up Friday afternoon. I drove it home the long way, no codes. Parked to have dinner, then fired up for a sunset ride, and within 5 minutes: Check Engine!

This morning the check engine light is off again, but I do have the code P1130.

Please advise what this code is; the tech doesn't reveal these things to me. I need to know so I can take it back this morning. TIA!

Do you think it's remotely possible that they are BS-ing you about ....testing and not being able to re-create it ........because I do ......Good Luck......Mike

Nope... no BS. I could tell by the ODO that he'd driven it several times, just like he said, and the "check engine" light was still dark on Friday. I then drove it 58 miles to go home and it still didn't come on. I parked for dinner, and then the next ride last evening got the code within 5 minutes.

So I took it back at noon today and he cleared the code again, and set up an appointment to replace the No. 1 cylinder O2 sensor (as soon as they receive the part). I then drove 58 miles home again, with a 2-beer stop in the middle, and NO CODES again, so far. He asked me to note how many miles I go before getting the code again. So far, no codes yet.

Y'know this thing could be caused by a loose or corroded wire connecting the O2 sensor, or some other such glitch, and a new sensor might not even correct it. That's why he wanted to check more thoroughly before just replacing the sensor.
