• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

check engine light on

Just had my 1st ride yesterday on a used 1650 mile 09 w/ elect shift.
Went 45 miles and ck engine light went on including message saying same.
Won't rev up. Less than 'limp' mode. Engine sounded like it was severly
retarded (timing). A couple hours later after it cooled it sounds 'almost' like it is running on one. Have cked oil, antifreeze, pulled and reinserted fuses and circuit breakers. No plugs avaiable today and now bike is an hour away. The ck eng lt came on after starting it.
Any other ideas!!
Thanks,
Wayne

So did you get a fix?

I had a similar situation today. My spyder had been missing for the past week. At higher speeds it wasn't so noticeable. However, at lower speeds it was. I was riding quite normally at 50 MPH when all of a sudden it felt as though the engine had died. My first reaction was that it went into limp mode. Just about that time a huge orange screen appeared with a huge emblem of an engine. I've seen a small engine before appear when I was in limp mode. Nothing like this one though. I shut her down and restarted only to have nothing appear. I drove it directly to the dealer and left her there this afternoon. This seems to be a continuing saga that I'm having (not complaining by the way YET) with codes being thrown.

I'll just have to wait and see what my dealer says. I'll certainly try and keep posted. Funny thing is that I just completed the BRP survey this morning reference dealer service. I gave them an excellent rating.

I had an 08 GS/RS and the only time I ever got a Check Eng Lite was when Batt and a Relay went bad, Replaced both and never had another
problem in the three years I had it, I hope my RT has the same record.....

Update on Engine Light on

Got a call from my dealer reference my spyder and what I had earlier posted. Service manager said that they were in contact with BRP in trying to diagnose this issue. The ultimate outcome was that BRP was of the opinion that the complete wiring harness needed to be replaced on my spyder. I was told that this was just about a severn (7) hour job.

Because I'm not gear head, (not even close), I'm at the mercy of my dealer and BRP. I will say that replacing the DPS and other parts from the showroom floor spyder (2011) did not help or at least did not solve my problem. Again, my thanks to the dealer for those efforts. Hopefully this will solve the problem and I will go back to trouble free riding that I have enjoyed with my spyder for the past 14 months up until just before spyderfest.

I'll keep ya posted.
