• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check Engine Light On Briefly

Got caught in cold rain a couple of days ago on trip to gas station. About 40 degrees out with winds bringing temps to near freezing. Came home and put 2010 Spyder RS SE5 in garage and dried it off with towels and ran engine for about 30 mins idling. Took it out for a spin today in 60 degree weather and "check engine" light and warning came on. Turned off engine and checked manual which said under this set of circumstances to just turn off engine & pull key and re-insert. I did that and everything was fine. Should I be concerned or was it likely just a glitch? I thought about taking it into dealer to just check. Thoughts?

Glitch

Nothing to be worry about, just a glitch. Spyder is very sophisticated machine and sometimes is allowed to throw these things around. For future reference when you experience same thing or DPS message or ABS or check engine, Limp mode home ect :
1;- do same as you've done with Key out and back in , done clear

Or

2;- turn Key on, start engine, let run for 10 seconds, flip Killer switch on, wait 10 seconds, flip Killer switch back off, start engine, done clear

Or

3;- turn Key on and off 3 times very fast, done clear

Or

4;- disconnect battery cables on both poles, wait 30 minutes, reconnect , done clear

....all above will clear and not come back on in case of glitches and save you tones of money you would pay to your dealer for nothing.
In case it stays on or come back shortly after you need to bring it to the dealer because it is not just glitch

......feel better?

Don't be surprised if you get a couple of glitches a year like this one.. Always try the reset processs before running to the dealer.. the Spyders computer are very very touchy....

Thanks for the help, guys. Was a little worried. Kinda figured it was not much since it did not recreate itself and I was riding around for over an hour. Just wanted to feel better and y'all helped on that count.

I've gotten it before. I just re-seat the relays and all is fine. I also check the oil level just to make sure.

It has happened to me a couple times also. On one of our group rides earlier this year, a brand new white RTS did the same thing. The new owner was not a happy camper. I suggested the re-boot procedure and it worked fine. He had no further problems on the ride. Took it into the dealer the next week, and they could find nothing wrong.
