• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

cheaply made spyder

I will say this about the screw/panel setup... the next Spyder I buy, I'm *most definitely* swapping out all the screws for Dzus fasteners the very first day home.

When I bought my RS, I remember reading folks talking about using Dzus fasteners. I figured I wouldn't need them, how many times would I have to take the panels off, really?

I've since lost track of how many times I've had to take panels off with mods/tweaks/cleaning/searching for items lost deep within. It's definitely often enough that putting on Dzus first thing would have more than made up for a zillion torx ratchet-hunting expeditions. :banghead:

The Spyder is overbuilt. Most of the time it's a good thing, until you need to pull panels off and service them. Then you wish it were like other tupperware bikes with more quick release push pin fasteners.

Its the Mirrors

Taking the plastic off has not been an issue, but every time I take the mirrors off, I wonder if the plastic will make it. There must be a better way of attaching the mirrors. They are getting looser and looser, in spite of the tension springs being tightened. The other issue is the plastic flexing each time the panels are removed. Obviously these panels are made so they can be removed, but I doubt they are made to come on and off as many times as they do.

The Spyder seems to be a well made, and possibly over engineered machine, but I do think some additional thought might have gone into the removal of panels etc.

Now if the could add two more gears so it revved a bit slower on the highway, and got a bit better gas mileage I'd be happy.
