• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

changing out fog light cluster for European cluster?

clueless

I see where I think people were swapping out the fog lights on the RS for european version with standard lights...

i know not legal :lecturef_smilie:

but I wonder if we could swap the RT fog light panels for the low beam I am guessing low beam panels from a european model for more up front lighting :dontknow:

If your idea is to run both sets of lights at the same time, it probably won't work without some serious modifications. Too much amp draw. Both lights use the same low beam circuit, with an additional (unused in the US) connector for the Euro low beams. The European Spyders then swap to a separate high beam connector for the console mounted lights. With your mod, both sets of lights would be connected to the same circuit. on low beam. On high beam only the top lights would work, like in Europe If you used the foglight harness, the wiring is of a lower gauge, and would not support the stronger low beams, IMO. I also think the foglight connectors are different.

If you want more light---just upgrade headlights and fog lights to HIDs.
More efficient, more light, less amps.

yeah but TRUE HID will require a new lamp and power supply ...

the bulb change out only are not really HID just looks

also the HID bulb is different so the optics wont work the same for the light housing... its a point source unlike filament bulbs

even if I could get the LOW beams to be the ones down low (the old fog lights) and the high beams the ones up top that would be better for the light photo-metrics as the lens are designed for just low beam and the high for just high then using the low light shutter thing they do now.... oh well just thinking out loud ...

Switching strictly to the Euro lights might be possible if, and this is a big if, you can get the low beam and high beam light assembly parts. They may well not be available on this continent. As far as I can tell, the wiring is there to support it...if you do a changeout and not a mod...combining systems. Please be aware that these lights may not meet North American lighting regulations, however. BTW, you would also need a second set of adjusters. The BRP parts fiche can tell you the parts you would need for the exchange.

You are right about the HIDs. They require lamps and ballasts, plus the location and type of ballasts is critical with a Spyder. They work great, though! Installing them would be easier in the long run, and would provide better light. There is no problem with the shutter sytems. In fact, they are preferable, to omit upward glare, with these projector lenses.
