• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Challenge - Make this Mod Better!

I have a BRP Backrest, and the design makes attaching any sort of luggage to the luggage rack impossible, so I came up with this wood and metal designed support that attached by a metal ring around the backrest.

So what do you think?

The design is simple.
Here is another view.

It's very functional, and until I can buy some saddlebags... Corbin... I think this will do for now. But please help me improve this.:chat:

That looks like it works well. Something like this might be right up Magic Man's alley. Something like that made out of aluminum...... Then it could hold one of the many sissy bar mount tailbags.

Thanks bjt,

I was hoping that MM will take a look. Tailbags are a good alternative for storage (when you don't want to load and then remove saddlebags). I think I've seen one (tailbag) strapped on your passenger seat sometimes as well. You pay $600.00 for this BRP luggage rack and backrest and it has no way of being both once you attach the backrest.

My wife and I are going to a small rally in Lake of the Ozarks this weekend and will try this out before heading to Fayetteville, AR 25th - 28th this month. Hope your travel to Gatlinburg about the same time is safe and enjoyable as well.

Hello!
As the owner of a CNC Job shop, I’ve been watching the plight of Spyder owners looking for accessories. I’ve made contact with a local dealer who is very interested to developing several items, one being another option for the factory backrest. I would be interested in getting a better look at the mods that you’ve done with your ride. Could you send photos without the bag attached so that I can get a better look at your mounting methods?
Thank you

We at Kewlmetal recognized this problem also. That is why we developed our rack system for the Spyder. Rear passenger backrest AND luggage NO PROBLEM, a variety of top plates, trunk mount option, converts from one to the other in minutes, very easy to install, super sturdy (attaches to the frame box)..... You decide. There is always ebay for your BRP setup! These are in production now and ready for delivery.

Will this rack work with a corbin seat? It looks like with the backrest it woulds be easy to add armrest for the passenger.

I am sure I could bring myself to part with the stock seat. I am sure if I keep it I will mess it up. I have no idea what it would be worth, but if I sell it can use that money for other mods I want, it is a win win situation.

I have not had the chance to check it with the Corbin seat. I have had my Corbin seat on order for a while. :sour:

I am sure some one in the first batch will let me know. We start shipping production units in a matter of days....
