There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. CCS-100 Cruise Brake Trigger

Hello to everyone here at SpyderLovers! I will be adding the CCS-100 cruise to my wife's new 2011 RS-S SM5 and I have a qeustion about the brake trigger. Most of the bikes I have added the cruise to over the last couple of years have required the use of a relay for the brake trigger. My question to those who have done this install; is the relay required for the Spyder install? A special note for Lamonster, my first install was on a 1999 Valk Interstate a few moons ago.. Now that I think back, I had to use a relay on this install due to a brakelight modulator...

Thanks in advance for any info and I hope to be able to give back to this forum in the near future.

Farkels to come:
CCS-100 cruise
Risers
JMCB-2003
Touring shield
Heat management
Nuvi

I don't know if I can be of much help but I can supply you with a few posts from this site that I came across while researching the installation of an electronic cruise control. I just purchased an electronic unit and intend to install it on my wife's 09 RS SE5. Good Luck and if you don't mind, post your install progress so that others can learn.

I also downloaded a PDF file of the Audiovox CC100 installation manual. If you need it, PM your email address.

I've installed both the vacuum and servo versions on the Spyder and did not need any relay. I also installed them on Valkyries with no relay required. Just tap into the brake light wiring and you should be good to go. All the cruise control is looking for is a voltage signal (indicating that you're applying the brakes) to disengage.

twoseas,
thanks for the reply and links. I would be happy to share when the time comes.. I also appreciate the offer of the instln manual but i have plenty from over the years, this will be my nineth time doing this install on several different machines.

Bajaron,
thanks for the feedback on the relay. It will save me some research time for sure.. I understand what the brake trigger does. If you ever do an install with a bike that has LED brake lights or a bike that does not have LED lights but does have a brake light modulator you will need a relay for the brake trigger signal. The cruise will not set without one in the two situations mentioned..

Hopefully everything will go well and my wife will be using the cruise in no time...
Thanks again.

I am currently running the No-Magic triple play LED brake with modulator on my Spyder, no issues. It may be where you're picking up the signal that is the issue.

BajaRon, I remembered seeing this before I just had to remember where. Maybe this will help to explain...

That is good information. I've never pursued it because I've never had the problem. Must be the way a particular LED system is configured. I guess I lucked out with the No Magic lighting.
