There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First of all there is NO catalytic converter on the Spyder ..it's just a baffle ....and yes I got mine at Spyderfest this yr...road it home to Montana... We hit some serious wind so we could not het a true idea of the increase in mileage or performance.....but it sound great...
this weekend we'll get a better picture of how the mileage increase is effected.....

That is not really true. The primary muffler assembly (the one under the bike) has a catalytic converter internal to it.

I agree. Factory calls it a primary muffler to steer people away from the heat problems they had with the 2013 or so they thought. It is still a Catalytic converter no matter what it has now been labeled by BRP. Removal on either the 2013 or the 2014 makes little difference in heat felt by the rider or passenger. I have done both.
If it looks like a Duck, well you know the rest.

That is not my experience with the 2013 RT, Jack. I like the sound of my RT with the Cat (primary muffler) removed, but that's NOT why I did it last winter. It was to eliminate additional heat (in addition to the "improvements" I'd already made). Now that we've had a few very hot days this Spring, I have to say that it has indeed made a difference in rider comfort.
Furthermore, I used to be able to remove my gas cap and actually watch the fuel boiling inside the tank. Since the cat removal, I have NEVER seen that happening again. And the occasional smell of fuel vapors is completely gone since the cat removal. Though removing the cat is only one of several things I've done to mitigate the excess heat problem, I consider it to be one of the most significant.

Hi Rob, it gets so hot here that I did not notice much difference probably because of the overall extreme heat. It did nothing to alleviate the gas fumes from the high temps in the tank. It did make a big difference in the sound which I liked and probably lowered the heat somewhat.

I installed it. My good buddy asked me for the specifics on performance etc. claimed by the manufacturer. I was happy to tell him that no claims on performance, i.e. horse power or fuel economy gains, are provided. Why was I happy? Because to me most of said claims are not realistic to average conditions and riders. I making my decision I just figured less weight, a nice little change in sound, and freeing up the exhaust flow sounded good to me.:thumbup:

No, it has nothing to do with the header.
Cat delete is exactly as stated. Removing the CAT Converter and replacing it with a "straight line" pipe to the OEM or 3rd party exhaust.

Although I am anxious to get a few things done to reduce the heat, I am waiting to see what the recall will involve. I do not want to spend the money only to find out that BRP had a better way to resolve the problem without costing me anything. We waited this long, hopefully in another week or so we will have an answer.

Yeah, I understand. What has been interesting about reading all the posts about the 2013 RT heat problem on this forum, is that most folks have different findings and viewpoints on this issue largely based on where in the country they live.

Your right on. These problems begin to occur above 85* and escalate as the temperature rises. Last summer at 117* it felt and smelled like I was inside a fifty gallon drum of boiling gas. Most people arguing that they have had no problems live in the Northern climes and do not have a clue what it is like in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Arizona in the summer. Temps here in Tucson are regularly 110-120 during the day and sometimes 100* at midnight. All you na-sayers should come down and ride here in the summer.
