Just a couple of days ago I order Lamont's Cat Delete pipe and received it today. I also received the spring puller I ordered from Amazon so I got busy in the garage.
I did not raise my F3 and did everything on the ground. I undid the muffler clamp and released the 3 springs. It then took a good 10 minutes of working the catalytic box back and forth to get it free from the rubber mounts. Damn that thing is big.
Setting the cat delete pipe into place was easier and I hand tightened the muffler clamp and got to work on those springs. One trick my grandfather taught me many years ago was to use a cargo strap (non elastic!) around the puller so you can use your foot for extra leverage. Worked like a charm and I would have never been able to pull those springs with just my hands. I then tightened the muffler clamp and cleared away my tools.
Fired up the F3 and woke the neighbors! With the akrapovik straight shot it now roars. I put it on par with my old RS with a hindle, removed air box and juice box. This weekend I'll get some miles on it and report back how it is on the road.
