• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Carrying extra fuel?

Just seen this thread.... question.

dtang: what does 3 gallons by 7 lbs/ gallon do to your tongue weight on your trailer?

Of course planning is everything, but this summer when I travel to Yellowstone, there will be days when I take back roads... ( non-interstate) and worry about gas availability.... Good thing spyder likes 87 octane, but my riding friends are H.D.'s and need that 91 octane..... Probably, because I will have the trailer, I will just put 91 octane in it for all of us to share.

We just have to try and distribute the items packed in the trailer so a little more of the weight is behind the trailer tires. That'll offset the additional weight of the gas.

Gas does weigh about 7 pounds per gallon. Water weighs 8.34.

Finally I got a pic of my extra fuel.

Eff,

You live in Florida...there's a gas station on every corner...including in the middle of the Everglades...

Why the tank? You'd be better off with a refrigerated cooler with water for those hot days down there!

Or, with beer for when you get to your destination and take a long needed break! :ohyea:

Hey Bone Crusher...

You may be right about the Fl Travel, and I have a Camel Bak, plus I can put at least two pony kegs in the trailer, plus ice. BUT::::

I am heading north to AR, OK, then to CA.. don't know if they have GASSSS up there anymore.. It has been awhile since I was in that part of the country..

Well, it looks like a few of us will be carrying extra fuel on the trip out west. Let's pray we don't actually need it. I have been mapping out gas stops kind of and there are a couple of places where we may be cutting it close, but I do believe we will be okay. I know every program can not have every gas station on it. I work third shift tonight, so I may be working on it some more. I like to be prepared for these kind of long hauls.

I am planning on gas stops every 150 miles plus or minus abit.
That will be about a 2.5 hr ride , just a 60MPH average

60 MPH who are you riding with?:roflblack::roflblack: I know you said average. But an FYI and it makes me happy, the speed limit in OK is 75, in TX it is 80 during the day and 65 at night on the Interstate, in NM it is 75 and in AZ it is 75, so I just don't see a lot of 60 mph happening. Can you keep up?:2thumbs:

That's the spirit! 80 mph during the day in Texas? That's my kinda state!

Just ask Docdoru? :chat: and besides,, that 60 average would take into consideration of gas/:ohyea:/stops and :chill: :dontknow:.

Yup, I was thinking that very thing. effgjamis, I apologize, it sounds like you are the one that may leave me behind. When I saw 60 mph I just imagined,

s-l-o-w. I do like to drive fast and if I am being careful I still try to stay about 5-8 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. The last thing I want on this trip is a ticket.

Speaking of speeding tickets. I don't know how other state troopers are, but California CHP is pretty sticky when it comes to speed limits. Interstate in CA is 70mph unless otherwise posted for populated areas. Some interstate sections have speed cameras through populated areas. Just a cautionary note for all who are traveling to LA.
