Carrying a small dog with us...?

Doug, it was my pleasure buddy

To Dave - Thanks very much for the PM and long phone conversation... It was GREAT to access your knowledge on both the Pet issue and the issue of Spyders in general. So thanks again Doug

It really was a pleasure to talk with you & as we discussed, it may be a good idea to start that other thread concerning BRP US/CA in reference to Warranty coverage & definately give Len at Cowtown a call. I forgot to give you his number while on the phone, its (573)885-6300. Good Luck in your future Spyder'n Adventures & hope to one day get to meet you in person at one of the many Spyder Rallies around the country :2thumbs:

My Missus and I carry our 4 pound Pomeranian in an 'Outward Hound" carrier that is worn in front so that you've got reasonably good idea of what your pet is doing while you're enjoying the ryde together...

You better look closer at my Sig Dave !!!! I replaced Holly with a picture of a very very famous girl from Florida. She's in hiding right now, but I'm hoping she sees this and give me a call. :roflblack:

Randy,

I think you posted this at the same time I was updating my previous post.

novel way to carry their favourite pet on a Spyder RT

Greetings all:

I tried to search this topic, but did not really get much other than the rig for Teddy. (This seems to work well as long as you are alone)

I'm wondering if anyone has a novel way to carry their favourite pet on a Spyder RT. I'm looking a solution that would allow us (as in two people) to also bring our little buddy along. He is a Yorky and only weights 5-lbs, so weight should not be an issue.

Just so everyone knows were I'm coming from - The accountant is slowly warming to the idea of a Spyder RT... But I know before I even begin to look at them, I better have a plan on how to bring our little guy along or the bank will be closed and the Spyder plan will be toast. So with that in mind, does anyone know of a good way to modify an RT to allow this. My early thinking might be to cut a hatch (mount small windshield) in the back trunk or something. I'm hoping this is something that might have been talked about in the past and someone has a good idea. My second thinking would be to modify a trailer, but i'm not sure the "accountant" would be happy to have him so out of reach....

Thanks in advance for any ideas or solutions

Cheers
Doug

Ok, this is what works for my 6 lb Maltese DooLittle.http://www.gwlittle.com/product/dog_carrier_pet_messenger_bag/dog_carriers
they have a video here to as well as pictures. This carrier has a maximum weight of 12 lbs.

Whats so great about this is it does not restrict in any way your movement
or control of the Spyder RT. She rides directly in front of the driver. Provides
a solid platform that she lays down on with ventilation from both ends and front.
All openings are zipper controlled and there is an interior harness you can latch
your dogs collar to. I have trained DooLittle to jump in the same way every time
so her head is facing out the right side if she wants. I was told the reason dogs
like to stick there nose in the wind is it simulates running for them. There is a
front compartment that you can carry several items in; doggles, water bottle
& poop bags.

The shoulder strap is sewn in, and adjustable. You will want to cinch it up so that after placing around neck and shoulder,
there is no movement unless you are the one doing the moving. Remember always have front zipped up when riding.

For $65.00 it also doubles as a carrier when you get to where you are going. My little girl gets tired
of walking because of her size.

And your dog will get so comfortable and accustomed to her home away from home that when she
wants to just camp out she has a place. I lined the inside with a small soft blanket.

With this device and where she sits you do not have to do any modifications/ additions or take up any valuable space.

I have logged approximately 30k miles my wife approximately 2K, and DooLittle over 12k miles:yes:
