• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Cardo Scala G4 help

The music sounds great coming from the new Iphone 4 until you get or make a call. When the call ends. The music comes back on scratchy and sounds like it's coming from a barrel. Turn the G4 off and back on. Everything is fine until the next call. Any suggestions?

That update came out before the iPhone 4.

Remember that you are supposed to run the music directly to the G4 through the cable, if possible.

If you are trying to use a GPS and run the bluetooth phone and music, it likely will not work.

I have spoken with Cardo on several occasions about this.

My setup is as follows:

iPhone connected bluetooth with zumo 550
550 bluetooth to G4
ipod direct wired connect to G4

This gives me phone function through the G4 and the music is running from the ipod...this setup will work.

If you try to run bluetooth music from the iPhone, it will not work if you want to use your phone.

Not sure if this properly addresses the issue at hand, but these are some things to consider if you have the G4.

Music works fine until you get or make a call. When the call ends music comes back just like it suppose to, but the music, it has a static/scratchy sound and like its coming from a drum. The controls work as well. If I turn off the G4 and turn it back on the music is great. I'm not hooked to a GPS.

Another thing Cardo says is that they don't work with 4 bikes. They say it has to be 2 riders and 2 passengers.

They work with 4 riders, or 3 riders, 1 passenger.

It didn't matter whether or not you answered the phone. Before the update, if the phone rang at all when the music started back playing it didn't sound good.

I have only updated the G4 one time...is there now a second update as well? As far as your iPhone 4 goes, are you plugging it in, or running the bluetooth for the music? My 3G wouldn't work and that's why I was on the phone so much with Cardo...I'm wondering if a newer update addressed this issue??...so that you can use bluetooth phone and ipod from the iphone...

I'm running bluetooth only. After I updated to the 2.2 version. It worked fine, the sound was great, but I only tried it once. I was in a hurry. Before I updated the Ipod sounded great until a phone call was made or answered. Once the call ended the Ipod worked like it suppose to except the sound was not right (staticy/scratchy and like coming out of a drum)

Regarding updates: I've downloaded it on both a Vista and Windows XP machine, and when I try to open the setup.exe I get a message that it's not 32 bit compatible. Any body else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Downloaded Cardo update to both computers, the laptop gives me the 32-bit message, the desktop refuses to recognize the headset. Calling Cardo to try to get drivers today. I understand the update is primarily for the FM radio setup.

The initial firmware update was for 32 bit machines only.:dontknow: I would try to load it directly to the G4. I didn't have any problem doing that way.

I just got back from an 85 mile ryde this morning. 1st I want to check out the spyder after the Y gaskets changed out yesterday morning. 2nd to check the response from the G4. The G4 worked perfectly. Ipod playing I made and recieved calls. One Harley buddy wanted to see how clearly I sounded. I had the G4 on my shorty. Doing between 75 & 80 mph he said he could hear very little wind noise 65 and under crystal clear. Music was so loud I had to turn it down a few notches. So far, I'm very pleased!

They're only 32 bit capable and not Mac friendly yet...

I still had issues with the update even on an older XP machine...it hung up during the update but when I checked the unit by plugging it in again, it showed that it had updated...very strange....

They need to clearly improve their update process...it's new to them, and it shows...it's very hard to get it to work well, IMHO....

You didn't use their software? How do you know it updated unless the version number shows like when you have it plugged in?

Yes, I had previously loaded their webupdater program which you have to have for the G4 to talk to garmin. So, rather than load the update to my computer and then to the garmin, I just loaded it directly to garmin. BTW, you must register your unit with them(which I assume you have done) The program walks you through the update and tells you when it has been installed sucessfully. Your unit will also have the software version listed in it.
Anytime you connect the G4 to the computer under Garmin's website, it will tell you if there are updates/new map versions available for it.

This is the email I got from Cardo. Hope it helps. It did for me.
