There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Car tires

Ok, the Yokohama S Drive was fine but it got no better wear than a Kenda. Next up for me will be the General Altimax. The Federal Evo's went 29,000 + miles for me so I went with a second set of them.

I'm going to order the General this week so stayed tuned to my review of it.

Hi Ann,

This is the tire we have on our Snyder. Close to 9,000 miles on it and still looks good. I have been very happy with how it handles and until yesterday no issues with rain, but it was raining so hard that it was filling up the road with standing water that had to be over an inch in spots so Kathy who was driving started to hydro-plan. She backed the speed down and that fixed that issue.

I just got through ordering the General Altimax. I figured if everyone else was trying it why not me too. I'm sure you know a lot more about these than I do. 8005 miles.

I only know 1 thing for sure!!

I definitely hated the factory Kenda rear wearing out at 6000 miles...I will end up like others trying a different tire each cycle till I find one I love.....but I know it won' t be factory tires...

And as long as this thread doesn't morph into amsoil, iridium plugs and star washers this forum is doing a lot better than my current "daily rider" forum....and ought to serve ya well for answers/opinions :-)

the rear tire should make the maximum grip - nothing else .. I tried a Falken / Fulda and use a Toyo TR1 now
but there is a lot of different if you change the front-tires - my old ones began to slidering in the curves dangerous when its wet , so I "test" now the Pirellis, was not so easy to find the right pressure for them but ..
much easier handling in the curves and it seems that I need less fuel than before !!

I have the Toyo T1R's on the front of mine and they stick like glue ....wet and dry .....Best front tire I have ever had on a Spyder.....................Mike

Ann I feel you are the best tester of tires on this site....therefore...

Here is something that I posted a couple of months ago on the subject of tires:

I'm getting ready to put on my 5th rear tire on my 2014 and, while I got 20,000 miles on a Kumho, I will most likely not put another one on. I find that the Kumho hydroplanes too much for my liking.

Here is what I have had on my RT

Kenda rear 9,600 miles (it was ready to be changed at 7,500 miles)
Arachnid rear 8,300 miles (it was ready at 7,500 but I could have gone to 10,000 on it)
Kumho rear 20,714 miles
Arachnid rear 8,971 miles (it is ready to go now)

Front:
Kenda 17,955 miles
Federal Evo 29,630 miles - Wow, I didn't realize that I had so many miles on them. But they are ready.

Update: I put on the Yokohama S Drive and a new set of Federal Evo's on the front before my trip to Alaska. With nearly 9,000 miles on the tires the rear Yokohama is about done and the Federal's are looking like they will go 30,000 miles. What to try next..................

I just sent Roger & Linda an email requesting exact brand/size of his tires. His rear tire looked like brand new at Dawson Creek....name was Michelin Hydroedge or similar....I will take the Yokohama S off my "try next" list. My 2nd Khumo will probably make 13-14k as did my first one...but Roger was talking about having 25k+ on the Michelin and said NO hydroplaning...

Hi Karyl, I have the Hydro-Edge and loooooooooooove it , wet and dry.........However good luck finding one now .....they stopped making them awhile ago. It was re-placed by the DEFENDER.....But it's not rated as high as the General Altimax RT-43 , which what Dee now has on Her RT ....size 215/60-15........I think She can get 30,000 from it .....It was rated highest in the wet................Good luck.....Mike

Well, from your own list - it looks like you should go back to the Kumho
But if you like to experiment . . .

I met with Roger in Drayton Valley Alberta, as we have been corresponding on Farkles and mods. He runs the Michelin Defender (replacement for Hydroedge).

Runs the tire at 28 psi.

I have purchased one for my Spyder as well, and it is going on next week to replace the Kenda, which is at the wear bars after only 8,000 km (4970 mi.). What a piece of cr**nojoke!

The Michelin is rated at 145,000 km (90,098 mi for the metrically challenged), although mounted on an MC application it may well get less than that. Still !!
