There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Car rim vs Motorcycle rim

Track time, twisty time and "Crazy Ballast Chic" Cary time...no problems with Kumho rear tire or Falkens on the front.

Only on the rear. The front ones are holding up for now. But I did notice that off to the side they had a whole stack of Federal 595 EVO's in the 165/55R15 size. ;)

Don't tell me they had Darth Vader lurking in the back room installing car tires on Spyders! :yikes:

Couldn't swear to that. Didn't peek in the back room. However I have it on good authority that Darth Vader will be installing car tires, and possibly even oversized non-OEM sway bars, at Spyderquest this year. ;)

talking to a few dealers and they recommend kenda tyres on the RS spyder..... Probably because they are selling them ?

Anyone have any issues with dealers using different tyres?

I've just been reading the owners manual before I pick up my spyder on Friday, notice front tyre pressure 18 psi?
Doesn't seem a lot to me, I guess it's right if it's in the owners manual?

Thoughts?

Yes, dealers will recommend Kenda tires. They are the only ones dealers can sell for the Spyder and there is quite a mark-up on them.

The better dealers will not care if you run other brands of tires, and may even install them for you, but apparently they cannot sell them. I am guessing (but don't know for sure) that they are forbidden from selling non-OEM parts by something in their dealer contract.

The tire pressure listed in the manual (perhaps just slightly more, if your Spyder is always loaded heavy) is the correct pressure to use (even though it does seem low) to obtain the best compromise between tire ware, comfort, and handling. The manual gives the recommended pressure ±2 psi. Also it's best if you take steps to keep the two front tires at the same pressure.

I think the Kenda might be the best tire for the Spyder if;

#1 - There was more attention to quality control
#2 - They put 4 steel belts in the tread area instead of the current 2 belts

But as they are, Kenda's are too expensive, do not last, and there are simply better alternatives that also cost less.

I'm going to put a toyo on mine. I'm guessing the local car tyre guy should be able to do the front wheels Then take a toyo tyre and ask the bike shop to put it in the rear.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1437981777.300951.jpg

:agree: Their handling seems to be more consistent throughout the tread life...
(However short that may be! :D)
Remember: they're also putting Kendas on the Polaris Slingshot. Perhaps we should keep an on THEIR forums for tire debates.

The same equipment ( car type ) works on the rear wheel / tire , I have had three done this way.......I'm referring to mounting the tire to the RIM ....not taking it off the Spyder .......Mike
