• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

so the other day i did about 76 miles and got 24 MPG , by the way i have the bike out of trailer mode, and today i rode the bike hard avg. speed 80+ and did 74 miles and got 28 MPG. go figure

John,
Are you saying that you don't understand why you are getting the mileage that you are? :dontknow:
Are your filling techniques consistent; tank to tank? (Sorry; I have to ask that.)
What rpm levels are you shifting at?
How hard are you running the bike up through the gears?
Any Stop & Go Traffic?

These bikes are kind of like tanks; the harder you push them; the quicker you'll burn off the fuel load... nojoke

By the way; how are the Vertika parts helping with the heat?

the first run i did the other day was a normal run at normal speeds, well at least normal for me, and i got worse millage than i did today at higher speeds. i shift between 5 and 6 k and i just don't understand why i was pushing the bike hard today at higher speeds and i got better millage today than i did the other day.

and today is one of the days i miss two wheels.

Mileage..!!

There are so many variables. I always check mileage at fill up and have to think how, where, when etc to try and make sense of why it varies. Have given up. The wilder I get the better the mileage but can vary with temp, of course uphill downhill etc etc etc. Gas and go..little light..gas and go is all thats left for me....:dontknow:

:agree: with Bob and Chupaca on what they said.

Better mileage as weather warms up. I think it has to do with the "winter blends" of gas. I noticed that big time last year. It was May before most stations were changed over.

Consistency from tank to tank when filling gives the most accurate mileage comparisons. I do it the same time, each time.

And even with trying to be as consistent as possible; it's pretty easy to vary the routine without even knowing it.
Fuel mileages are best figured over a period of time; with multiple fill-ups.

I have tracked every single fill-up since I first purchased my 2012 Can-Am Spyder

The only way to accurately gauge your mileage on your Spyder is to track gas purchases and odometer readings accurately. The Spyder gas tank is notoriously difficult to work with, i.e. your gas gauge says empty but one time you put 3.75 gallons in it and the next time you put 4.5 gallons in it.

Fuelly.com allows you to do this...plus a program I have called GasDandy.

See my post about mileage BY CLICKING HERE!

Anyone who tells you they know their gas mileage from one or two fill-ups is crazy! And anyone who says they can do it in their head is equally crazy!

I have tracked every single fill-up since I first purchased my 2012 Can-Am Spyder RT-S.

As of the other day, this is what I am experiencing.....

I use 93 octane when available, though at the beginning I used 87 octane.

Every fill-up where I got GREAT MILEAGE is followed by one where I got a LOUSY fill-up. That is because the pump shuts off and the amount of gas to fill an empty tank varies from fill-up to fill-up.

By tracking every ounce of gas I put in the Spyder, I can give you an accurate assessment.

We used to figure this stuff out with pen and paper...
in fact; I often still do! nojoke (it helps to keep all of the fat inside my head, from congealing!)
