• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I pulled this from another thread:

Plus, when you take it to the dealer, have them look up Warranty Bulletin 2009-4 or as Carlo put it, Quality Bulletin 2009-4. This bulletin was for performance issues and the vent tube extension back in sept./oct. 2009.

You may want to give this a shot before removing the canister. Just don't call it a service bulletin; there is a service bulletin of the same number, which is unrelated. This vent tube extension helps eliminate the gas smell; unless it was already done on your spyder.

If you want to know more about the vent tube extension, type it in the search function with quotes around it.

Look at post 29 and 30 here for the canisterectomy:

You may want to check with Firefly to see if he chnaged anything else since his original post.

Not sure you can get rid of the gas smell, however it is very important you get the gas fumes out from under the tupperware and away from the heat and possible sources of spark. BRP has been extending the vent hose from the charcoal canister down and out the bottom. Myself i prefer to extend it back to the swing arm on the left side away from the muffler. Personally I prefer to leave the canister in place so it can filter some of the fumes if it has not been totally flooded by fuel.

I hate to say BUT Not Topping off and possibly overfilling so the gas goes into the cannister IS the Best prevention.
If mine were overfilled and I was smelling Raw fuel I would spent the $$ to purchase a new cannister and be More diligent when fueling in the future!
Sorry? Thats how I feel.nojoke

Also check your gas cap really well --- mine recently has developed a habit of coming loose and smelling really bad. Got a new cap coming hoping that takes care of it....

I also changed the seal it was to soft but I still got the smell. I used a 2011 jeep unlimited seal perfect fit and a little stiffer. Then I took the canister our and bang it was gone.
