• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Canadian vs US Spyders

Are Canadian and US Spyders identical? California generally has their own spec models due to their extra stringent smog regulations. Recently, someone selling a bike in Canada mentioned they were close to our border. Just for my general education, what is necessary these days to import a vehicle, such as a Spyder, from Canada. Duties? Mechanical changes?

The Canadian ones run in kilometers and cost about 25% more.
EH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I believe....

they are the same. The european ones are different. different gearing and lighting and their license plates are as big as the rear fender...:roflblack: check with your dmv for registering it. Don't bring it to California...:banghead::banghead::roflblack::roflblack:

The Canadian Bikes aren't allowed to figure their fuel economy in "Miles per Gallon".
Apparently, they have to do it some other way! :D

Since I am Canadian

The information center on the spyder can be changed to MPH and the odometer can read in Miles. I like the imperial system better than metric system. There is no difference in parts and also my spyder has a C.A.R.B sticker on it for complying with California emission standards. Two things that are different is the price ,American spyders ,parts and accessories are cheaper than Canadian and also I cannot buy a spyder from America and have warranty coverage and vise versa is also true. So GOOD DAY EH!!! :yikes::clap:

Not to hijack this thread but I noticed when we were in Canada that when I started my Spyder the trip meter would show miles for a few seconds then it would change to kilometers. My question to you Canadian folks is if you change your mode to miles does your Spyder show kilometers in the trip meter before changing to miles?

I have never noticed anything like that but I have never looked for it either.

No. When I cross the border, I set the speedometer and odometer in miles. Each time I start the engine, the trip meter stay in miles. Same, when I came back in Quebec, I change the speedometer back to kilometer. Again, when I start the engine, the trip meter stay in kilometer. No flip flop between mile and kilometer.

It's the second time I heard something about that... Very strange...

So ironic that they cost more, and yet they are made in Canada.

Ya, right now. But what about when our currency was at par and our Spyders were still 2 grand more. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

My original point was directed in the vein of humor since in reality there is not a really big difference between the Canadian and US version. I do understand there is a price difference but that has to do with the Countries economies, taxes, and tariffs, which I have no control over. I believe sometimes, if you can't fix it, a joke may help.

My original comment, before this got technical.

"The Canadian ones run in kilometers and cost about 25% more.

I tried to use enough joke signs to show the intent.:bowdown:

I have never noticed what you are decribing. I will watch for it next time I change to miles.
