There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Canadian Spyder Recall - Potential Brake Failure

For my Canadian friends who drive a 2010 Spyder, check with your dealer...Sorry it is in French and I got this from the www.lapresse.ca newspaper.

http://auto.cyberpresse.ca/dossiers...terne=cyberpresse_B2_auto_508450_accueil_POS4

The article says that the recall is for Canada only. 1352 Spyder 2010 units recalled for possible brake failure !

If I find more, I will let you know.

=============================================================

I took French in High School but it isn't too good. This is a free, on line translator with some slight editing from me, but should help us English readers a bit.

I think the word 'Reminders' here would be better rendered 'Recall' but I did not want to change it because I am not sure.

The can-am Spyder RT, vehicle to three wheels of BRP, is the object of a reminder for a possible loss of brake.
BRP ordered the reminder to the Canada of 1352 copies of the year models 2010. On certain Spyder RT, "the stem that sets up the connecting rod of the pedal of braking can disconnect itself and fall. That would induce a total loss of the capacity of braking", signals the bulletin of the reminders of Transportations Canada. The stem in question will have to be replaced with a concessionnary one.

Three incidents linked to this mechanical problem officially were retrieved in the world: the first one to the Canada in June 2011, the second in Finland in last July, and the third one to the United States in February of this year. BRP opened an investigation after the second declared case. The business did not retrieve any injured or major accident linked to this problem.

Since 2007, it is a matter of the seventh reminder of which is the subject this vehicle to three wheels.

It appears to be a Canadian Transportation Dept Safety Board notice and in it states :

Units Affected - 1,352

Maybe thats the total number of Spyders produced in 2010 and the recall should be a worldwide recall

Sorry I am not sure how the safety recall system works I have a 2010 RT -S SE5 Model and would like to know
if my model could have this problem and if I should bring it to my dealers attention

Anyone can add to this information would be helpful

Thanks

Different countries have different rules as to when, how, and why a recall or other action is taken by the respective government agency. Obvioulsy this problem has triggered action in Canada. But that doesn't mean you can't inspect your Spyder to see if your ride may be affected.

The notice states that the part in question will be replaced. I'm assuming by an upgraded part that addresses the issue. Seems to me that this part would also be avaliable to American Spyder owners.

Something to be checked out.

On the other hand, 3 failures worldwide isn't a huge problem, unless it was your Spyder that failed! :yikes:

Here it is for the US 3,259 units affected
