• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can you modify a standard seat back rest to use on a comfort seat?

I just bought a used 2015 spyder RT that has stock seat but they added back rest. Considering buying the comfort seat, but it would appear the comfort back rest is a different part number than the stock back rest (219400679 vs 219400689) which is basically throwing away a $400 upgraded and buying an additional $500 one. Anyone have success using the standard back rest on the upgraded comfort seat?

From my understanding, the Stock Backrest inserts into the backrest opening at a slant angle, whereas the Comfort Seat backrest inserts straight up and down, due to the seat being customized to allow the 2 additional inches.. Now, whether it can be modified, I have no info on that. Maybe others have more to offer.

IIRC, it's the bracket that goes under the seat which is completely different between the Standard and Comfort seats, and which means you can't just swap the backrest over. :banghead:

I do know that they ARE NOT interchangeable in their 'as purchased' state, and I believe that there's no easy way to modify one to suit the other!

Still, if you are going to buy a Comfort Seat to replace the original seat with, then maybe, as racoon suggested, you could sell the Standard Seat complete WITH the backrest attached to recoup some of the cost of the new seat?? Or just sell the Backrest with the bracket from under the seat separately?? :dontknow:

You might not get a heap for it, cos it's a Standard seat, but if it has a backrest included... surely something is better than nothing?!

Just Sayin' ;)
