• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can you identify this muffler?

Good evening All,

Pipes getting a little loud (yes, there is one on the other side as well,) and I would like to re-pack these, but I don't know who makes them. They seem to be carbon fiber and both metal bands are riveted. If it helps, underneath the end and on the bottom (about 1.5" back is a rubber grommet that covers an allen screw. Once removed, the silencer (inner ring comes out).

Any thoughts on who makes this? How about a place that would sell inexpensive packing?

(Final Jeopardy tune begins...)

Thank you!

HMF pipes?

Thanks Dave,

I just sent an email to HMF requesting an address to send the pics to. Their website does not show a pipe with the carbon fiber end, or bands with rivets on both ends.

Some of their stuff looks suspiciously close though. Let's see what that say.

Thanks again!

you can buy universal packing to use in it. I stock Vance and Hines in my shop. Its around $15 most shops should have something you can use

muffler manufacturer?

The cylinder is 15" and the tip is another 2". If I'm unable to find who makes this, is 15" the measurement I use?

Is it possible to contact the former owner and obtain an answer to your question?
Just my thought. Good luck.

Mystery muffler

Update: Mike from HMF sent the following:

Chris, those are not our mufflers. I can’t tell whose they are. We could probably repack them for you but I can’t make any promises without actually taking a close look at them. If we can it would be $35 per muffler.

Mike was quick to respond and very kind and my search continues... Leo Vince is next!

Can you identify this muffler

You are absolutely right! I went looking through all the Google images and found it. I don't think its made for 2012, but the site shows a blueprint of the muffler and it matches to a T.

On another note, the reason I was looking for packing was because the bike was getting progressivley louder...until the header came loose; it appears the dealer forgot to tighten the clamp! In the end, the mufflers have no packing to replace, header installed correctly (no charge), and I didn't have to spend any money.Wonderful!

Thanks for the wonderful tip; you certainly have a good eye! Thanks again!

It looks like it may be a Leo Vince also possibly <IMG class=inlineimg title=Smile alt="" src="http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.png" border=0 smilieid="1"><BR><BR>Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
