• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can you believe someone would....

steal the side panel off of one of our RTs while the ryder was eating his lunch????? Renter stopped in a restaurant just before returning the Spyder, went out to it and the right side pop-off panel was missing. A second ryder was parked to the right of him and swore he saw the panel there, when they went in.

I've left jackets, helmets, gloves, tank bags, roll bags and more on bikes and never had a problem.
What are the chances that someone would want or need a side panel, and decide to rip it off... the nerve of some people. :banghead:

Watch you bykes ladies and gents.... :dontknow:

Are you sure it didn't fall during the ride,:dontknow: I say this because a few Spyders had those panels come off while riding.

Hope they were not in Durango when this happened.

No... in Durango (the wild, wild west) they just take the whole byke:joke:

We check the bykes often and the panels were in pretty solid. Besides, I'm sure the guy would have noticed when he got off the byke.
I can't be 100%, but the guys were pretty clear that it was there went they went in the restaurant.. I guess Sh*t Happens???

Stolen stuff

I bought a clean one owner Road Glide 5 years or so ago from a dude in S. Georgia. Drove my trailer down the next day to pick it up and all apparently went well. Took it to the HD dealer in Cartersville and asked him to look it over after he put the heated grips on it. I had brought a book along to read and a couple hours later, one of the technicians comes out and says "how's your cruise control working out?" I had used it on my pre-buy visit, but not that morning. Asked why he'd ask and he took me into the shop and showed me where the cruise computer area cover had a plastic "prong" broken off and the cruise control computer itself and the cable to the right grip were both gone. Called the guy up and he said, I don't know, I've never used the cruise. Lying creep. Cost me about $500 to get the missing parts replaced and installed. I kept sending him e-mails with a mileage update and asking for my $500 to cover the stuff he stole off it. Never had that happen before or anything like it since. Could have gone the lawyer route and probably gotten nothing anyway.
World is full of thieves, isn't it? Maybe Pete the Wrap Geru can make a special graphic for your plastic replacement, might as well get something out of the deal!! Nice picture af a 50 Cal pistol would be a good start!
I've never had a thing stolen off any bike, like you said, helmets, jackets, GPS on a RAM mount, Bags straped in the back seat or on a luggage rack - nothing. Hope noone steals my frunk cover. Getting a nice mural next week. My wife will probably never even notice it. Showed a pic of how it's going to look to a couple grandsons and they said "Nana will never see it." Of course, they've heard the story where I bought a new burgandy pickup years ago - replacing a bright red one. The two youngest girls were still at home and they went nuts when their mom didn't notice the bigger, cleaner, different color truck parked right next to her car for 3 weeks. One of them finally told her mother and ruined the whole thing. That's why I buy only black or red bikes, she never pays any attention to my side of the garage and I don't tell. :banghead:

Best to ya

I am in agreement with those who think the panel blew off while driving down the road. The renter just did not want to "fess up".

The thought of someone stealing a side panel off the bike while parked at a restaurant is pretty ludicrous.

I usually leave our Nolan helmets with communicators sitting on the seats where we are--never had a problem with thieves. There are places where I would not do that--like downtown Anchorage or Fairbanks--but beyond there, I feel pretty safe.

Or, perhaps he is starting his own custom build... piece by piece!!!

My Spyder sits outside under a cover and for over 3 years, I never had a problem. My BRP cover ripped where the windshield is and I replaced it with a Nelson-Rigg with the optional windshield cover slot. Going out one morning with the dog, the cover is on the Spyder. Two hours later the cover is gone and the bungee cords, along with the little one that comes with the Nelson-Rigg are left on the old driveway together.

Who takes a cover and leaves the bungee cords? I know who it was and she did get another visit from the Sheriff's Dept. If I was younger, I would have done something stupid but, being BDOBB (Broken Down Old Beach Bum) I prefer the law to take care of these matters. I never saw it again and am waiting for a new one and back to using the old BRP cover with a bigger hole in it and a smaller second cover under it, for the seats and console.

:gaah::gaah: While I'm actually HOPING that it blew off for you; the fact that someone thought it was there leads to a less-fortunate conclusion to this affair... :cus:
Scumbags are all over the place...

Sorry, I lost mine, and had to replace it. Is there a place nearby where I can get it painted to match my bike?

Seriously, that's terrible!

Here is one more option to this tale. You own a Spyder and your side panel blows off. Renting a Spyder may be a less expensive way to replace missing parts.

I know, devious mind, but you have to think like them to catch them.

Yeah, maybe.... no.

The piece cost less than the rental. Then add the time back and forth and oh, you have a $1,000 deductible for damage, theft, responsibility to return it in the condition you received it.

You may make out if you take the engine.... :dontknow:

The guy may have lost it... but he seemed very credible and a genuinely good guy! Offered to replace it right away. I've been very impressed with the caliber of our customers!

Just my opinion, but who really would notice except when approaching the Spyder. He may have thought it was there, but you can only see the edges of it from hus seat, and it would not be glaring if it was missing, until you were walking back toward the Spyder. I suspect he just didn't notice, then thought it was there when he got off because he didn't notice that it was not. Only another Spyder owner (same color) would have use for it, and a hater would just slit the seat cover or break the windshield. No reason to think the worst over this. One question, were all the grommets still firmly in place, or were any of them missing or pushed part way through?

You are right... not that big of a deal. But, there was a ryder parked to his right and swears it was there when they got off the bykes at the restaurant. Also, you could have it painted....

Yes, the panels were firmly in place for the first 11,000 miles on the byke.
