• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can we have a reasonable discussion about this?

ST limited

 How's this?

Go back to showing her the ST line-up... set a realistic goal!

They had Satin Silver ST limited that looked good too!

The reason BRP does not put a handbrake on the spyder is because they realize that the majority of spyder owners are old. Old people easily become confused, and expecting a confused old person to properly control throttle and braking with the same hand could be a recipe for disaster... [emoji38] [emoji106]

I thought I was going to have much more problems adjusting to the lack of a hand brake than I did. I have actually never reached for the phantom lever. That said I would not mind having one for pushing the bike around if nothing else. I hate pushing from the right.

Hand Brake

I have the hand brake kit on my 14 RTS...Besides for the positive reasons above it comes in real handy when pushing the Spyder around the garage...I also like when stopped at a stop light and want to stand up on the floor boards and stretch out for a minute or so...Yes it was costly but it was my choice to have one...If BRP would have offered it as an option I would have purchased it...larryd

Point taken. I hit 76 last Friday, and I know I'm not as well coordinated as I was at 15, so the single-pedal foot-brake suits me just fine. And might I add this?... the reason the front-wheel brake is on the same handlebar with the throttle in the first place, is that there was NO PLACE ELSE left to put it!

I've had 3 incidents where deer ran into the side of my 4 wheeled vehicles. If one "T" boned me on the spyder and broke my leg at 60 mph, I'd have a hankerin' for a handbrake. I'm not going to run out and buy one but I think it would be a good idea.

Never say Never

I asked a couple of BRP reps about the possibility of ever adding a hand brake to the Spyders right from the Factory... ;)
Their succinct response: "No..."

Steve Jobs maintained that Apple would NEVER increase the size of the iPhone display screen.

OMG that was harsh. Hopefully you will live long enough to be old and confused.

Bigger foot pedal

I have got past the ghost hand braking. I would like to see a larger brake pedal from the factory. Something like a Harley FL pedal.

As a motorcycle rider most of the time, I wanted the Spyder to have a handbrake. But I have gotten used to making that mental switch when I get on the Can Am. I had been waiting to see if anyone else besides ISCI would make a retrofit handbrake, competition brings the price down and all that. But the fact that ISCI owns that racket proves the lack of demand for a handbrake.

I love the rt
Amazing in every way
wish I was riding it NOW---

But I still miss handbrake

When pushing it to wash it
When at stop light
Etc

No deal breaker for sure but it seems (missing) to me

A hand brake gives you much quicker response. When riding hard through the twisties, leaving one finger on the hand brake, you can apply brake pressure faster than lifting your toe to the brake pedal, especially if you are using your body for leaning into turns and have your feet planted firm.

It is MUCH more difficult to Ryde with your brake pedal "covered", than to Ryde with
you brake LEVER covered.

Also, the distance your brain signal has to travel before things start to happen, is
much shorter BRAIN TO Hand, than Brain to foot.

I am used to going with just the pedal now. But that doesn't mean I don't miss a lever.

Love my hand brake.

Most motorcycles have a hand brake. A lot of people never use it (to their destruction at times). But it is there for those who see the need.

Mine is a cable brake. Probably have less than $100.00 invested (not counting my time). Doesn't work as well as the ISCI but it does the job for me.

I will agree that the Spyder does not need it. But the owner does.... :ohyea:

Concur

I am with Ron. I cannot forget 40 years of using a hand brake on a motorcycle. I grab the ghost brake lever! BRP, add a hand brake lever! If the target buyer is a motorcycle rider, add one!!! Jmho, joe
