• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So.. As many of you have read from a previous post. My 08 Spyder was throwing a DPS code. I was very fortunate to meet Chris Muhl at the IMS show in Dallas and he stated that if I brought my bike to Cowtown Powersports in Fort Worth it would be taken care of.

Last week I did just that and was told by BRP that my part was 40 days past warranty and it was going to cost me 1600 to get it fixed :gaah:

well!! That was just not acceptable! So gave Chris a call and that man is amazing! He called me today and said it would be completely taken care of.. No cost to me, not even labor.:yes:

I seriously can not say enough good things about everyone down in Cowtown. Danny, Tommy, and Sam are great guys who have bent over backwards to take care of me and my bike and the service has been amazing. I will always be driving to them from now on for anything I need on my can am.. They are THAT worth it

Also, Chris the can am rep... What can I say? Not enough good stuff that is for sure. He kept his word and that is so rare nowadays.

I am one very happy Can Am owner

I had the same DPS fault. I have a 2008 GS SM5 and my dealer in Honesdale Pa said it it was a recall & he replaced the unit free of charge. This was just 2 months ago

Chris Muhl was right, the BRP rep wrong:

That is great that they took care of you but as Doc and the others have said this was a recall so warranty status shouldn't have anything to do with it.

If I recall correctly, the replaced steering boxes were warranteed for a year (or two?) If the DPS was previously replaced, the extended watrranty could have run out. The problem began, of course, before the extended warranty would have expired, so by all rights should have been covered. If an owner is having some kind of problems, it is a good idea to report them to the dealer as early as he/she can. If the clock is ticking, that report could get the Spyder covered with less difficulty.

Glad you have it taken care of. You are going to think you have a whole new Spyder. Enjoy the Ryde!

This was EXACTLY what the issue was.. it was already replaced so it did havr a warranty but as I said.. by the time I found someone who talked to me and did not give me the run around. The DPS unit recall part had ran out of warranty. .:banghead:
Now it is all good and Chris and the crew at Cowtown PowerSports are awesome!!
