• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Can Am does it again!!

Bought a new 2021 Ryker about a month ago. The handlebars were about 10 degrees off center. Look on the net and it looked like a simple procedure, an hours or so. Since it was new I figured I would let the dealers do it. Well 3 1/2 hours later the tech told me that Can Am had welded the steering shift and it could not be fixed. They open a case and we will have to wait and see what we do on.

Something doesn't sound right. You say the internet source showed you the procedure for aligning the handlebars. The dealer tech says there is no procedure because the handlebars are welded to the steering shaft. Can't both be right (and the no-adjustment scenario doesn't seem likely)

The way it was explained. The handbag steering shaft could not be loosen to rotate it because of the weld.. Can Am should get back with the dealer in 2 to 5 day. I will call the dealer in the AM and get a copy picture they took. If I don’t like the answer will go to the other dealer in Fort Worth.

:agree: .... the Ryker steers the same way as all Spyders do ( mechanically speaking ). If it's way off BUDS will be needed to ZERO it. ... AFTER the TIE rods are adjusted so the Alignment is correct .... I think a better Dealer Tech should look at this ..... good luck ... Mike :thumbup:

I asked the tech if they could zero the bars and realign the bike. He that would throw the computer off a wold throw up an error code. Went and looked at the service manual and the handle bar assembly has a conical shaft that fits into a fitting on the lower steering rod. Will see what the photo looks like.

Sad but I’m not really surprised. Yes, I’m about to vent. Shame on BRP/Can-Am for the sloppy work at their factory. My 2020 rally, 6mo old sprung a fuel leak from the pump nut. I have the service manual and when I disassembled it the pump was out of alignment and the nut was well under torque spec.
On top of that, why do I have to buy an after market end links/sway bar to safely go over 50mph? Honestly can anyone say that their machine felt stable over 50? Please let me know. I enjoy the bike but the quality and decision making is disgusting.

I would start a new thread with with these questions.I would be interested in seeing the replies.

You need a new dealership. I have removed my steering stem to install a cluster relocator. The stem is absolutely adjustable…. Adjust handlebars forward, remove plastic cap with small screwdriver, 13mm socket to remove bolt…. Grab bars and muscle them press left side down while pushing right side up, then right side down while pulling left up, continue doing this until the stem pops out…. Put it back in, align it, put bolt back in. Tighten to 23 ft lbs. put back plastic cap. Enjoy your Ryker.

I straightened my handlebars ALMOST the same way, But FIRST put in a 6mm (maybe a 5mm) bolt in steering linkage while the wheels are straight. That location is, if you are looking straight on at the front of your Ryker it's located near the the lower right side of side of the engine oil filter canister. Once you have the bolt in place you can twist the handlebars without taking out the stem. I thought torque was to to 18 lb ft. Maybe it's 23 lb ft if pressing in the stem. I may be wrong. You can only twist the bars just so much because there is a "notch" that the stem sits in, (not at all snug) you'll see it sitting on the seat and looking low towards the forth/aft adjustment area. DON'T FORGET TO TAKE THE 5MM BOLT BACK OUT.
I just found my old "reply" to a the same problem, thread #6

My 900 is rock solid at 105 mph, let alone at 50. Sway bar end links have nothing to do with straight line stability, they and the sway bar are there to control body roll in corners, keeping the body flat and preventing excessive weight distribution due to centripetal force.

Ease up on the grips at higher speeds. It lets the trike settle down and get in the groove. If your grip is too tight the trike will feel twitchy. But this relies on your alignment being correct to begin with:lecturef_smilie:

~~~I routinely ride my 2020 Ryker Rally @ an indicated 80+ MPH on I-75 and the steering is rock solid stable. Judging from your conversation Vince and also the OP’s, both of your machines weren’t set up properly. I realize BRP has an extensive dealer network in North America. If I were you I’d seek out a reliable BRP mechanic to straighten out your machines. The complaints both of you mentioned are not the experiences the majority of us have. Not that you asked but I bought my Rally from CycleZone in Topeka Kansas. They have excellent technicians on staff. I highly recommend them
